I meant BER in Spring 1903, rather than MUN.teccles wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:14 pmI had been using the strategy I employed in the first game rather consistently - the turn to STP was the new thing. I definitely made some mistakes after that; particularly, I think I should have taken MUN in Spring 1903, getting me a build. I also think my fleet should have gone via Denmark, which again gets me an extra build in 1903. Having only the one build there really hurt me.

Re: Fairbot Belt challenge
You could have taken Munich in A02, and then either bounced Boh in S03 or put an army in Silesia in S03. Then you wouldn't have had to face the Austrian Wall (Tyr/Boh/Sil/Pru) in 1904. The bot really likes that 1904 Austrian Wall. I think the best defense is to make sure that, whatever you do, get an army in Munich in A02.

Re: Fairbot Belt challenge
Context: the bot will almost always allow you to take Mun in A02 if you want it.
Re: Fairbot Belt challenge
Thanks. I agree, supporting BUR-MUN is a better good way to go in A02 here.

I'm really starting to like F Bre/A Par as France's 1901 builds over A Par/A Mar. I think I just don't know how to maximize the utility of that Marseilles army, probably. But fighting over Tunis is usually decisive, and F Bre makes that much easier.

Good game, chechveck.
After a 3-day wait, I tried a few games again and just got another win. An intense battle for Tunis just prevented an Austrian runaway win and after that was stable, I cruised to get Stp as 18th. Fun game!

Re: Fairbot Belt challenge
Nice job taking and holding BER ! Makes all the difference I think, since it buys you enough time to take STP.
The BOT as Austria seems to be able to win too QUICKLY if he holds STP and BER. Not enough time to take either SC from him.

I'm declaring a total victory for mankind, I literally made the bot quit. It'll take another week or so before it exhausts its delays and surrenders.

Well done, CptMike
A few days ago, I started a game and the bot wouldn’t enter orders for Spring 1901. So I canceled it and tried again, same result. It’s a moody spirit.

Second win in a row: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameI ... ocache=568
Something really weird happened, look at Fall 1906. The bot had a 100% chance of winning, F Tys-Rom was all that was needed. I even gave up on making any advances, fully expecting to lose. But he didn’t make the move! I’m not an expert, but isn’t that a clear programming mistake?
Even though I didn’t take advantage of that in Fall 1906, my position still allowed a 50-50 guess to capture Tunis in 1907, which I did.
