It feels not great that Nanook got cocky in reaction to pressure that in part was saying he was too down on himself.
Perhaps you should come onto this train? We'll get to Oregon faster than those other guys stuck on that summit over yonder.

I think it's a stupid question with no worthwhile answer is what I'm getting at. What does it tell you about his alignment? Why is this a thought worth pursuing?
My speculation has been that Maniac would be more likely to announce he did not read his role PM as scum than as town. M7 showed that he has considered not finding out the identity of his teammates as a scum strategy. If Maniac really did not read his role PM, it seems the reason to announce it would be to inform his scum teammates, and Maniac seemed to admit that, which is not the reason he gave initially:

Complicated hasn’t it? Think I’ll have to have a few read throughs.

What’s this about banning the word ‘Lyn*h’? What’s all that about?

##VoteFluminator because he dragged me back into this destroyer of time.

I’m going to lurk a little at times because I’m still pretty busy, and other times I’ll post mini-novels.

Haven’t yet read my DM, see if I can figure out who’s who without knowing who I am. That might be fun.

Hello to all the players I haven’t played with before. Is anyone new or have you all played before?
So, I think either Maniac was deceiving us about not reading his role PM, or deceiving us about the reason he was not reading his role PM.
Or he was fucking with you when he said it was to inform his scum teammates?
Maybe, but it seems likely the most likely reason. We are talking about a time when by Maniac's own claim he would not know whether he was mafia.

Maybe, but Nanook seems pretty genuine and summit seems uncomfortable. And uncomfortable summit is scum summit.
The only genuineness I get from Nanook is the lack of wanting to put effort in.

If he's being genuine that he's being 'attacked' by players here I'll eat my own sock.

I feel like summit has had an awful long time since becoming a main wagon to do something remotely townie, and has singularly failed at it. He's dodged every single statement that multiple people have made about how he's playing this game so differently to last time, and so I really don't see a reason to change off of him.
^^^ this 100%

Last game he pushed people, wasn't afraid to interact with people and give his opinions. Everything about him was town. Here he's said almost nothing that seems like hunting, and I can't stop thinking about how in M1015 he said in scumchat that he was considering going down quietly so he didn't implicate his teammates.
yeah, its frustrating, im catching up waiting for it to happen, but its just not happening.

Maniac is 100% lying about not reading his role PM, as he was there way back when someone got in serious trouble for not reading their role PM or saying they didn't.

I may have been me. I forget.

If I'm remembering correctly he has done it as both, or at least announced he has. Do you think he's going to assume people check M7 to know that it's a signal? And more importantly if he really did not read it, how is he supposed to know he HAS scum teammates?
He would not know for sure, but if he did not really read his role PM, he would know it was possible. My point was that if the reason he did not read his role PM was because it would be "fun", he did not need to announce it.

I don't know, Bunny was kind of an asshole to him. I wouldn't feel like making much of an effort either if that's what I was greeted with.

I think that is also a reasonable theory.
