+1 for closing the night thread. I like having open nights, but for this specific setup, I would like the dance partner mechanic to be as interesting as possible.

Hmm, I'm not a fan of a closed night chat, but I can see the point of why you would do it. But I don't want to close night chat absolutely.

How about this: close night chat, but open it one or two hours before EoN? That way the discord chat still have big value AND we can have night chat (if only in a short form)?

Having an open night chat is vital to this setup and if you haven’t realized that yet, you need to think more about this setup.

This is an absolutely elegant setup, and I will be very disappointed if it gets undermined by people not reading the rules.

In all seriousness, I’ve been considering signing up for a mafia game for a while, and so I’ve been keeping up on the recent setups. This is the first one that compelled me to joined; I think it has the potential to be super fun. I’ve been thinking a lot about it, and I think the night chat really needs to be open. I have some mechanics reasons, but I think I should wait until the game starts to really get into those.

One non-mechanics reason is that there’s a lot of variance in time zones in these games. That (in addition to how flakey people can be in these games) will make some of the partner chats basically unused. Just for player enjoyment sake, it’s probably good to have night chat open.
