I think in my next game I will just add a rule that players should contact me directly if they have a complaint about personal attacks (on them or on others), and that I will warn or outright modkill players who, in my judgement, cannot refrain from personal attacks, or who improperly invoke the GM.

page 85 / orig I have a terrible hangover after helping to drink the pub empty last night.

Vecna is an asshole and endhammering yourself is clearly against the rules as it's playing against your win condition.

I will read over this car crash as quickly as I can and make any comments I feel pertinent before EoN.

But it's not like any of these rules helped us deal with a recent episode where a player refused to acknowledge the authority of the GMs and had to be dealt with by the mods.
I'm not sure what incident this refers to?

Brainbomb, you are de-railing this discussion.

Please calm down and refrain from using this thread to attack me, it's not helping.

Chipperock. The point is more that this is not a rules-based community with abiding institutional jurisprudence and robust enforcement mechanisms. It's a consensus-based community that is deeply deferential to the GMs of the current/upcoming game.

First of all, accusing Vecna of violating his win condition in the example you just posted, is not "misconduct" in any way whatsoever. Don't be silly.

Second of all, the purpose of this discussion was to talk about whether or not we should have a player Code of Conduct. The purpose of the discussion is not "let's put Jamiet on trial for misconduct". Everyone knows you have a problem with me, but spamming this discussion with complaints directed solely at me because you personally dislike me is derailing and not helpful to the discussion. I am politely asking you to stop it.

Ah Chipperock. Yeah. Oh dear.

That's true I guess. So in order to introduce a Code of Conduct we would need some kind of consensus.

Perhaps we should have a poll in this thread?

Or we could go with the second half of my point about GMs having the power to make changes and worcej could just add a rule:

Players are expected to treat each other with respect and refrain from personal attacks. Players who would like to raise an issue about personal attacks (either targeted at them or at another player) should contact the GM directly. The GM will, at a minimum, contact the player to let them know an issue has been raised about them. The GM has discretion to issue specific or general warnings to players in the thread or by PM, to remove or modkill players for personal attacks (even if no warning has been issued), or take whatever other actions they deem necessary to address the issue.

Whaddya say, worcej?

This website has a rule that concerns about rule violations should go to the mods of the site. public accusations of cheating, and accusation of rule violations during ongoing games should result in a site ban

We should have the same levels of respect, conduct as diplomacy does.

6. Do not make public cheating accusations
Cheating accusations should not be made publicly on the forums, in games, or via PM. Instead, reports of potential cheating should be sent directly to the moderators at [email protected] with a specific summary of the situation and the players you believe are working around the rules.

This is why everytime someone self votes and you pick peicemeal some horseshit rule interpretation its ACTUALLY you violating site rules

Are you seriously suggesting that this applies to the rules of the game of Forum Mafia?

I am quite sure it does not.

The rule you are talking about concerns accusations of cheating in games of Diplomacy. It is nothing to do with the rules of Mafia.

Are you really saying you think that because I suggested Vecna (or Bo-Sox, or you) was not abiding by the rules of Mafia, then I have violated a general webDip site rule, and should be banned from webDip?? If you are serious about that, I suggest you send an email to the Mods at once calling for them to ban me. I am sure they will be delighted to spend their time responding to your complaint.

This wording is rather broad. I am concerned that it is open to abuse.

Yes
I believe you should be forum silenced for habitual cheating accusations made on the forum
a silencing is the minimum.

but im not a mod. and my accusing you of violating site rule 6 is also a violation of site rule 6.

so if you get silenced ill gladly go down with you.
as youre webdips champs rep and its much more humiliating to be repping a community while under sanctions by them

So far the views expressed would appear to be as follows:

Adopt a Code of Conduct (2) - Foodcoats, Damo666

Introduce a "good conduct" Rule instead (1) - Foxcastle

I am currently withholding my view while the discussion continues (but I firmly support the discussion taking place

You seriously believe it is the role of the webDip mods to deal with complaints about the rules of Mafia?

Ok then. Please stop posting about it here and email a formal complaint to the mods. Go ahead.
