This question has tripped me up in past games as a guesser and so I’d like to ask a clarification of you here that I will apply to subsequent similar questions this game (unless a questioner specifies differently). This clarification is made without reference to whether it would impact the answer to this question, future ones, or if I’m simply being annoying.

Is this question asking whether what I deem to be their #1 source of fame is on the list, or whether they are widely known for one or more of the things on the list?

Using an astronaut as an example, if needed - I wouldn’t say John Glenn’s #1 source of fame is being a politician, but he is still quite well known for being a senator for 20+ years. Would he be a yes or no to your question?

I did not ask this question, and will leave it to the questioner to clarify, but I would say that in the example of John Glenn, he is *not* "Famous, largely" for his involvement in politics, so it would be a "no", for me.

It's the use of the word "largely" that makes this slightly problematic. If the question was "is he known for politics?" then John Glenn becomes a "yes" because a lot of people *know* he held elected office.

I agree that this is a good question and good example.

For me, I think that the key question to ask in the John Glenn case is: would he have been an appropriate (if somewhat boring) 20 Questions pick *without* his astronautical activities? He served in the Senate for 24 years and ran for president in 1984. Compare Glenn's political career to, say, Gary Hart (who also ran for president in 1984).
