Let's see. I can come up with the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts, Simon the Cyrene, and maybe the Queen of Sheba. (Obviously none of their birthplaces are definitively known.)

Isn't Hannibal Barca the father of the more famous Hannibal?DreamTrawler wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:44 pmborn in North Africa?
if yes, free guess - Hannibal Barca
Re: Twenty Questions, Round 280
Actually it looks like some people refer to him as Hannibal Barca? I don't know.Hominidae wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:58 pmIsn't Hannibal Barca the father of the more famous Hannibal?DreamTrawler wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:44 pmborn in North Africa?

Re: Twenty Questions, Round 280
That's Hamilcar Barca. According to Wikipedia Barca meaning "lightning" was both a title given to Hamilcar for the swiftness of his attacks, and a name for his family. I'll amend my guess to Hannibal son of Hamilcar Barca because Wiki says people rarely call him Hannibal Barca.Hominidae wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:58 pmIsn't Hannibal Barca the father of the more famous Hannibal?DreamTrawler wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:44 pmborn in North Africa?

Re: Twenty Questions, Round 280
Hannibal Barca is correct, great guess Dream!
Probably the most feared general of all time, Hannibal was so revered in his reign of terror that Rome would later erect statues of him to celebrate the glory of fighting such a glorious leader. The phrase "Hannibal at the gates!" Is still used to announce an extreme or dangerous situation. (Often humorously)
