Tell you what - I am glad the CEO himself at least died too. Reading the history and lack of safety culture in that company, as an engineer myself, blows my fucking mind.
It's pretty fucked up, isn't it?

Safety? That just gets in the way of innovation!

(Innovation = using a cheap videogame controller to operate a submersible at extreme depths).
That and it was only truly safe for about 1400 meters of depth and it was going to 4000. Then advertising that it was rated for it and met certain safety inspections that never actually happened.

Lots of FUBAR stuff here. Way worse then guns.
Dude can you just stop?

has damo ever been fundamentally in favor of trusting scumslips?

or to phrase differently has he ever stated he doesn't believe in them?
Just going off memory, yes he has seen what he believes as a slip and pushes for it

Is nobody bothered about HamB's move off Chaqa when Chaqa was in the lead. Don't find that odd? Curious?
My thinking is his teammates may have not been in positions to join the Chaqa wagon, so he had to jump ship. Whether that means they were already voting me, or had townread me (the latter would apply to worcej, for example).
Well HamB moved off you as soon as I returned from my aborted brain flash attempt. That should be town indicative to people imo. The other 2 Chaqa voters were ghug (who pointed it out in the first place so that's town indicative for him) and brain. So from mpov the most likely reason is he was bussing you.

Ghug’s bad vote is obviously going to move before the phase in order to save his own skin, so really it’s now damo vs aaro

I think I'm relevant too but part of the reason I'm not just jumping on aaro is that it's too early to start the final horserace.

Well, I know he wasn't bussing me, so that's why I think there's two main explanations:
1. Ghug is mafia
2. Mafia were not able to get a handle on the situation

I don't think it's #1, so I assume it's #2.

Here's my deep-dive on Damo:

Observations:

His D1 starts with some math talk and banter with Jamie. Lots of joke voting back and forth. There's a bit of that with ghug that was due to someone saying damo is good at reading ghug. He also agrees with me on not pair-claiming.

His first real read seems to be here (at 4 hours left in the day:
damo666 wrote:

I know I playfully voted for ghug but i think he is town and his wagon is bad.

I think ##vote Chaqa is the way to go
I don't think there was any provided reasoning for this vote.

His next post about gameplay is here:

I've just come on for EOD only to realise that EOD id midnight for me not 11pm.

It's a tad annoying.

My preference order of the top 4 wagons is Chaqa Vecna HB ghug (though I won't vote for ghug). Will be prepared to switc to prevent a tie.

Of the single vote wagons KAK before aaro
There were still no provided reasons for his claims.

He then posts this:
damo666 wrote:

The way it stands Vecna can tie the vote.

If Vecna votes Chaqa, Chaqa can move to Vecna (or let the vote be tied but that would smell of ChaqaVecna scumpair) but if Vecna votes ghug Chaqa can move to ghug which is a result I don't want so I think I have to move to Vecna.

##vote Vecna

Happy to move back to Chaqa if his wagon motors.
I don't have a degree in wagonomics, so I have no idea what to think of this. It sounds like he's saying he's voting for Vecna in order to prevent ghug from being a wagon. Again, this seems strange to say explicitly if ghug is scum. Unless damo is a risky scum player than I would expect.

He then votes for Chaqa, tries to get a flashwagon on Brain (for what appears to be no reason), and then goes back to Chaqa. He sits there for the rest of the phase (5 minutes).

Damo's first reads of N1 are: "I would be amazed if there is not at least one scum in {Chaqa, Vecna, brain, aaro} (in order of S->T)". The included people are in response a post by ghug. The only other person mentioned in ghug's post is Jamie (who damo says is town).

Damo says he's interested in brain and makes a couple of comments about him. that's at 10 hours left in N1. He doesn't reappear for 22 more hours. I know people have jobs, but that's a pretty large gap.

Damo reappears right after I counter claimed ghug. He posts his reads which I think are worth quoting because it's one of the only time he gives reads:
damo666 wrote:

From day 1 voting I conclude Jamie rdr and Sweet are town.

From general vibes from posts I townread ghug, brain, Ezio and worcej

I am null on aaro, Vecna, Chaqa and demon

I am gonna join brain ##vote DemonRHK. Mainly for lack of engagement (bit hypocritical but ...)
At this point it's worth noting that he know DemonRHK is ghug's partner. There's a lot of people with low activity so he seems like a weird one to target.

The thread then melts into a puddle due to the partner counter claiming talk. Damo is super weird about it though. He refuses it for a bit. It's worth mentioning that I told him in night chat the previous night that I was considering claiming and he didn't respond.

He does that whole claiming that ghug scumslip'ed thing.

After that settles he posts some of my least favorite posts of this game:
damo666 wrote:

So apparently the pairings are:

1 aaro/damo
2 Jamie/Sweet
3 brain/rdr
4 Chaqa/worcej
5 Ham/Kak
6 Ezio/Vecna
7 ghu/demon

I think pairs 2 and 3 are both TT

I also think worcej is town.

So I am down to 13 possible scumpairs.
He hasn't really backed up any of his reads at any point this game, and from what I can tell, he just added a bunch more.

He then says that from HB's vote moves, that he's going to vote chaqa.
damo666 wrote:
Fri Jun 23, 2023 8:56 pm
Adding Vecna to my towncore on the basis Ham voted him

1 aaro/damo
2 Jamie/Sweet
3 brain/rdr
4 Chaqa/worcej
5 Ham/Kak
6 Ezio/Vecna
7 ghu/demon

Possible scumpairs

aaro/chaqa
aaro/ghug
aaro/demon
Chaqa/demon
Chaqa/ghug

The purple pairs are unlikely from D1 voting

So I am left with 3 pairs with the following appearance count

aaro 2
chaqa 2
demon 2

I will not vote outside these three. My order of preference is Chaqa/Aaro/Demon
It's worth noting that his two eliminations of pairs effectively just removes ghug as a possible scum from his pov. It was super weird to me at the time.

I have to go look at houses now so this is all very rushed. However, his current scum pool are still the three listed above. He's also decided that chaqa/demon isn't a possible pairing due to a post from chaqa, so he's decided I'm scum. He is currently voting for chaqa due to a comment from ghug.

Inferences:
  • I think Damo and Jamie aren't scum together. I think the banter at the start of the game is too bold of a move for that.
  • Damo is obsessed with ghug. Almost his entire game revolves around him. All his voting decisions during D1 were explained by him as "this will prevent votes on ghug". His only real activity in N1 is responding to a post by ghug.
  • Based on that last bullet, I think my scum pair claim of ghug/damo is dead.
I have some more feeling but as I just said, I really need to finish this post. I think damo's play so far this game has been relatively baseless. All he's really used for evidence is D1 VCA and a couple of random one off comments. I know that I haven't done much better, but I'm allowed to be a hypocrite.

##vote damo

I'll be back a bit before EOD.

In vecnas two lowest posting scum games he did not return for EOD and last posted 20 hours from deadlines and 15 hours from deadlines. large gaps of time without posts in both games. the difference between then and now is the showing up at end of day aspect.

In M72 he only showed up in final hour and was gone all day. he could probably explain what happened in that one as I dont remember but that maybe is an outlier anyway.
