There is no luck in Diplomacy, lad.

But nah, all the players are still in a good place.
I know you probably felt really cool saying this but I would disagree.
Someone in this game is France, someone in this game is Italy.
Would that not be classed as luck?
Considering one cannot chose his nation.
Nice try, but your timing doesn't support that you were talking about what players were assigned what great powers at the start of the game.

Diplomacy moves sometimes involve guessing. Therefore luck is involved.
What is the sound of one hand clapping? It takes two to tango. As a tai chi master, you must learn to feel an opponent's moment and react accordingly so that you end each phase in a more advantageous position. There is no guess; there is only mind-reading. Do or do not; there is no try.

If I had said I used that line to get men into bed would that have been sexist? Or is it because I said women? Just wondering how that is remotely sexist?

I am no scholar of feminism, but your comment reveals gender expectations that harm all. Either that or Qui-Gon was pedofile. You pick.

Coward! In a real World Cup game, a sandgoose outs you early on and you have have to struggle on anyway in bitter determination for more than 100 years. You think I'm joking? That really happened.
Emotionally I'm going through a 100 year game just reading this thread. I'm becoming a real world cup level player already seeing y'all continue to bite at each other's tail

Reading: that is the first mistake. The second was creating this thread (not actually a peanut gallery).

Speaking of risky decisions, Army London?

So a Forum thread that mentions PPSC, the role of Luck in the game, politics and gender arguments... I don't know if anyone else is paying attention to their card, but with my Free Space, I'm a reference to "He Who Shall Not Be Named" away from getting to shout BINGO!

So anyways, peanut thoughts about this game.

I see the early Jugg, and that looks fun. AI needs to get their poop in a group, but with that army in Rome, I don't know how much Italy trusts Austria. In fact, I really don't like Italy's spot, especially with the fleet Mar build. Sheesh. EF be broadcasting a Channel DMZ about as subtle as a drunk grandma sending an email with the body in the subject line in all caps.

-France had a great opening and they have a lot of options. Catbird seat after 1 year.
-Germany needs to make some new friends and press their ass off. I don't like their spot.
-England looks to be starting already as the junior partner to France, but mid game survivability is something I'd take.
-Italy's Rome build could maybe mean a RIT? I don't know, but that's either really bold or there might be some ragerts.
-Austria's pretty standard opening is standard, and is probably cursing that the DMZ in Galicia was broken. They're gonna need help, too.
-Russia is probably thrilled to have a build and didn't get stabbed.
-Turkey putting the two fleets aimed at the Med is fun and makes me smile. It broadcast the Jugg super loud, too. But hey, no risk no reward.

I think it was Austria. The info page shows that he has used 1 of his excuses.
