#1 Post by Fluminator » Sun Mar 20, 2022 4:53 pm

Diplomacy works better as a 6 player game anyway.

Let's up the ante:
Petition to remove Russia from Earth.
We'll begin by carving a massive trench around Russia's borders that stretches all the way down to the mantle. Then comes the tricky bit, separating it from the mantle. Then the even trickier bit of launching the landmass into orbit, but we'll succeed! 'Murican freedom n' democracy is strong enough to overcome even the laws of physics!

This might be too radical a move. I'd suggest that we impose sanctions and limit their units to two from start.

The two fleets preferably, so if they cause problems annexation of Russia will be easy!

Or just make Moscow an impassable radioactive wasteland ;) Much easier than hurtling them into space.

was my thread sent to the politics page to die?
how did this do a better job of avoiding politics lol
Well, I grew up in the fallout from the riots in the '90s
Static cranes stand lifeless, castin' shadows on the town
I stare out that hallowed ocean as if to pick a fight
For thе dreams my old man dreamt for me lay on thе other side, yeah

This is still in the "Off Topic" page, not the Politics page...

From my experience, Russia already gets removed from the board pretty early in Gunboat.

Nah. We just need to add Ukraine as an eighth playable nation. Split Sevastopol into two supply centers, make the Ukraine province an SC, and now everyone has 3.

I concur. In addition I think an option to lend builds should be added, so that all other powers can send each other builds...but only nations that have been attacked by Russia can receive loaned builds.

France gets the short end of the stick in this variant...

Well are we talking attacked by the current Russian polity or are we talking has been attacked by Russia ever? And how are we defining "Attacked"? If we mean, Russian troops were on the soil of that nation as enemies of it during wartime, France is eligible because Russian troops occupied Paris in 1814.

I assumed that we were sticking strictly to the definition of "attack" within the game of Diplomacy, not historical events.

I think that those despicable people who continue to play Russia on this website should be shamed, despised and banished. There are countless players among us, who pretend they are upstanding good people, like I am, but in their hearts are unfeeling brutish dogs...those people who continue to play Russia on Webdip. Because they have not taken a moral stand and allowed the Turks and Germans to assume their SCs, because they are unfeeling selfish dogs, they should be banished from the site. Let them form their own diplomacy site. Awful people, they are.

I think that's a bit harsh. I think all webdip Russia players should be allowed to assume control of their country...but only after three seasons of civil disorder signifying regime change.

Please excuse me if I'm wrong, but is this a joke? Russia is very much not cool right now, and I think the choices Putin has made are disgusting. HOWEVER; This is a board game, why on earth would we remove Russia, it's not like that will actually make any difference in the real world. I understand doing it out of spite, but kicking out a nation would completely remove the historical asset of this game, which is what makes it so fun. Think of it on the bright side. If Russia remains, then we can kick the s*** out of it as many times as we want :D
