Scar is the hero of the Lion King
Scar was able to make amazing changes to the pride in the time he was king. he united the lions, hyenas all under one banner. he expanded the pride lands, cleaned up crime in the elephant graveyard and managed to remove the fascist totalitarian leader Mufasa. This is proof that socialism is a superior form of government. This also proves that communism is achievable and that purging resistant entities can lead to a glorious empire. Three cheers for Scar, the true hero of the Lion King.

Go fuck yourself for your impudent ignorant slur of a highly respected Lion
Re: Scar is the hero of the Lion King
Under Scar, 4th quarter job numbers for Hyenas dropped to a mere 1% unemployment. Most hyenas had a high quality of life, were well fed. able to raise a family, and enjoy life in the pridelands.
Meanwhile, pregnant and expectant Lioness mothers reported record high birth numbers, interrspecies marriage among lions and hyenas created a new species of intellectuals who instantly adopted various sociological axioms.
by the time simba returned and overthrew the party, quality of life was expontentially higher than it ever had been before

The land withered by drought and a darkness fell over the land. Clearly the Tyrant God had looked disfavorably upon Scar's rule.

Isn’t scar fascist, though? His character was loosely based off of silly mustache man, not commie boy with a more luscious mustache.

The Lion King is simply an adaptation of Tom Stoppard's original play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, so the true heroes are Timon (R.) and Pumbaa (G.).

Re: Scar is the hero of the Lion King
The Lion King is loosely based on Hamlet. Hamlet is set in feudal Denmark where the spectrum between communism and fascism is not the right lens through which to view politics. It's probably better to think of both Mufasa and Scar as regents whose power has more to do with lineage and personal connections than ideology.
Scar is Claudius and Claudius is a complex character. Despite being treacherous and power hungry, he is also portrayed as a capable and charismatic leader who adeptly prevents a war with Norway (i.e., the hyenas). However, there is a building sense of decay and corruption that affects the entire court throughout his reign. Likewise, the Pride Lands are shown to become desolate and resource scarce under Scar's rule due to his failure to respect the Circle of Life (i.e., the moral and political order of Denmark).
We don't know much about Mufasa's reign because, like King Hamlet, he's killed early in the story. He's well liked by some characters and serves as a righteous foil for Claudius/Scar, but it's not clear whether he was a particularly effective of a leader. Could King Hamlet/Mufasa have prevented a catastrophic war with Denmark/the hyenas? Maybe not, but his murder by Claudius/Scar set in motion an unravelling of Denmark's/The Price Land's domestic politics.
Prince Hamlet wrestles with whether his quest for vengeance risks throwing the kingdom into chaos, suggesting that Claudius' rule is not so obviously terrible that his overthrow would clearly be the better outcome. This theme is not picked up on in the Lion King — since Scar's leadership has made The Pride Lands desolate, it seems clear that the Simba taking the throne from Scar is a net benefit.

Johnny Lawrence is the hero of The Karate Kid... and Danny Larusso is the real villain. Nothing to do with economic/political theory, though. It was the 80's.

Ugh, another Cobra Kai revisionist. You completely ignore the context of the self defense situations that Danny Larusso found himself in. Sure, he was throwing the first punch, but was always put into an untenable situation. It was a far more complex plotline. "The Karate Kid" was loosely based on "West Side Story" (and Romeo and Juliet). Two warring factions / star crossed lovers and all. The depth of the philosophical differences between Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do also echo historical differences between Gichen Funakoshi and Choki Motobu. Mr. Miyagi echoes Funakoshi's emphasis on personal growth, while the entire Cobra Kai organization embodies Motobu's emphasis on training solely to emerge victorious in a fight. Cheesy 80's nonsense, indeed. I think that in 100 years college students will be studying "The Karate Kid" as a prime example of late 20th Century literature.dargorygel wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 12:00 pmJohnny Lawrence is the hero of The Karate Kid... and Danny Larusso is the real villain.

Sure... absolutely... that is not why Danny is the true villain. He is simply annoying. And every time Johnny (et al) makes contact, they are doing what we all want to do.Crazy Anglican wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 2:46 pmUgh, another Cobra Kai revisionist.
