Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
I prefer simplicity. Either teccles voting system, or rock-paper-scissors.

Thank you to our European teams for being punctual and joining your games.
Americans, we're waiting on you.

I assume you've just lumped in the colonies with the European's?

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Just so everyone's aware, one team's members need to delay start until mid-week, so won't be joining until then. Again, I'll be avoiding starting any games until all are joined, so as to avoid giving away any potential partial information.
Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Will there be a heads up here a day or at least few hours before the start? So that we know when to expect to get going :) the first hours of the game can be important...

I'll try to start it at a time that's good for people in all the timezones - and will give a heads up here before they start.

Good job we eliminated those aussies eh? Makes the all timezone friendly point much easier.

All games have been running. I will check and scramble now as needed. Unpause and launch will be in roughly 12 hours except for the public press game, which will remain paused until a Sunday launch.

FvA's should have already started. I know the Yorkshire Puddings vs California one is ongoing - I was going to chide team captains in my coming message this weekend issuing the second round of matchups.

Hi all,
Until the site functionality is restored, the last two games will remain paused.

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Whoever checked all their tournament games within 5 minutes of jmo unblocking everything, I appreciate your zeal, but unfortunately it prevented me from pausing these games and adding time back. I don't believe it matters much for the gunboats or 1v1s, but for our full press game, I do not know what the state of negotiations were during the site shutdown, and had wanted to give players some more time.
I will be unpausing our FP2 and Public Press games tomorrow around noon EST. Please let your teammates know. I believe that should be a time that works well across all timezones here.

I believe FP1, both Gunboats and our FvA were processed with no issues, at least that's what my teamates are telling me. Looking forward to being up and running in all the games!

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Heh, that was a month and a half ago, HB. But I suppose its time I give an update.
Yorkshire Puddings is in the lead, helped by a perfect record in 1v1. Their last matchup is vs. Prosecco. Can the Italians channel their inner Caesar and conquer Britannia?
Much of the rest of the standings is driven by the one game that has ended, and are as follows.
Puddings - 215
Prosecco - 174
Great Lakes - 113
Eastern Canada - 112
Sons of Vlad - 40
California - 20
Greatest Lakes - 20

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
As if a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders, the last 1v1s have been made, and should be starting tomorrow. The regular games are in their final stages, and I've updated the scores below.
Puddings - 366
Prosecco - 325
Eastern Canada - 264
Great Lakes - 113
Sons of Vlad - 40
California - 20
Greatest Lakes - 20
We have three heavyweights grouped at the top, thanks to the most recent 3-way draw in the public press game. Prosecco has closed the gap to 41 points from first place, with a couple 1v1s still to play out. Eastern Canada is lagging due to being completely blanked in 1v1s so far, so will have to make up that difference in the remaining games. Meanwhile any of the bottom teams can still crawl up by virtue of a solo or several strong draws. Here's to an exciting finish!
