There should be a special golden banana award in tournaments just for games like these.

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
If I am England's, France's, or Turkey's teammates in this game I would be very disappointed if the differential from this game is why we didn't make the finals.
Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Would be grateful if someone would post the game link so we can see this masterpiece.

I would feel the same - but as Russia's teammate, I couldn't be less disappointedTheFlyingBoat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 9:12 pmIf I am England's, France's, or Turkey's teammates in this game I would be very disappointed if the differential from this game is why we didn't make the finals.

Too late for regrets now! 6wd not enough of a difference from 7wd to bother. It was a very special game and the worth it has there is far beyond small, mortal concerns like tournament points ;pTheFlyingBoat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 9:12 pmIf I am England's, France's, or Turkey's teammates in this game I would be very disappointed if the differential from this game is why we didn't make the finals.

A ruthless display to which cold hearted Diplomacy players will go to help their respective teams reach the coveted World Cup finals.
Or not.
Or not.
Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
The sheer love for one another displayed in our press is truly heartwarming. One must read it all for the full experience.

Hey chluke if you go to Games-Tournaments, you can spectate the tourney and see the links to every live game. They should also be on the external site (which is where scoring is)chluke wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:25 pmWould be grateful if someone would post the game link so we can see this masterpiece.

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Group B is heating up, with 6 teams now having a 3-way draw under their belt! The 1v1 records are the difference between advancing and not thus far.
With a few other games looking like they're in their end stages, and the last of the 1v1s coming in, it looks like our gunboaters will decide which teams advance and which do not.

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Strong start by rdrivera to lead the pack, with a 3-way Full Press draw and two (!) head to head wins for Team Brazil!

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Yorkshire Puddings now stands atop the field at 412, with a near-perfect 1v1 record!
So everyone can see the details, the team scores are all located here.
But I shall repost here.
Group A Scores
Prosecco - 286
Greatest Lakes - 233
Democracy Sausages - 179
God Save the Team - 177
Ain't No SC Not Edible (if Fried) - 125
Cheesesteaks - 124
Sons of Vlad - 124
Its still a very close match here, thanks to our wonderful 7-way Public Press draw. I wonder if any of those teams will come to regret their decisions? Cheesesteaks, Sons of Vlad and Greatest Lakes all benefited greatly from that draw (which is like a 110-120 point swing for those teams, assuming an eventual 4wd in the game, but as we all know you can never predict public press!)
Group B Scores
The Yorkshire Puddings - 412
California - 364
Eastern Canada - 327
Great Lakes - 239
"Great Plains" - 211
Brazil - 189
Three-Fifths Australia - 0
Being cut from that FP1 draw really put a damper in Great Lakes' chances at moving on. The top three teams here are all very strong - making 2 out of 3 draws, and making very strategic decisions to narrow down the draws - that cost Eastern Canada and Great Lakes significantly. You also see some bold plays here, as the Yorkshire Puddings and California players seemingly tried to hand a solo over to Eastern Canada rather than get cut out of the FP2 draw - a move that would have essentially eliminated the Brazil and Great Plains teams.
I say essentially eliminated because even at zero points, Three-Fifths Australia is not out of this yet! With two gunboat solos, or even a single gunboat solo and a correct 2-way or 3-way draw, they could advance still. Remember gunboat points are halved, so a gunboat solo is 219 points.
Also to bear in mind is that a 7th team does move on to the finals! That team being the best 4th place scoring team between the two groups. Currently, that is set to be Great Lakes, but as scores keep coming in, it's something to keep an eye on!

I'm glad you've now seen the light, the elevated truth; the sheer heart-groping beauty in our harmony.goldfinger0303 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 8:53 pmIts still a very close match here, thanks to our wonderful 7-way Public Press draw.
You commit heresy. Is there possible any answer other than "never"?goldfinger0303 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 8:53 pmI wonder if any of those teams will come to regret their decisions?
Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Interesting to see if we might have a solo in Group A FP2!
