Re: Conspiracy Theories

In rather amusing conspiracy theory news, it turns out that the founder of the UK's first birth control clinic, the Family Planning Association, and a major global abortion provider was indeed a crazed eugenicist, pen pal of Hitler, and passionate supporter of creating a master race. You couldn't ma...

Re: Conspiracy Theories

I mean, some will say that the super wealthy have a cure for Cancer, but apparently it is more profitable to keep it hidden so they can profit from the treatment... (which is easily disprove by simply asking how Steve Jobs died). I worry about your standards of proof at times. That merely suggests ...

Re: Conspiracy Theories

Utter tosh. You'll be telling us next that the price of oil is controlled by a shady alliance of international leaders, or that the French secret service slaughtered a boatload of environmentalists, or that the UN Secretary General was assassinated to prevent him bringing peace to the Congo, or that...

Re: The Democrats Have Big Problems

What mystery? Why the Democrats insist on supporting policies that immunises them from millions of potential votes, or why those policies are so toxic to certain independent voters in the first place?

Re: Best Piece of Diplomacy Advice

Possibly... Assuming it's even possible to force someone to take initiative. Can you initiate someone else's initiation? On the basis that it's impossible to do what you suggest I wholeheartedly support the spirit of the proposal.

My indecision on this is final.

Re: Best Piece of Diplomacy Advice

Ah, I like that advice far less. "Avoid too much x" is always true, as too much of anything, by definition, is a suboptimal amount. But with its universal truth comes a fundamental lack of utility.

Re: Best Piece of Diplomacy Advice

To assertively avoid taking the initiative? It's an interesting approach, that's for sure. If I was feeling generous I'd say it manages to encapsulate the enigmatic and contradictory spirit of the game.

Re: Electoral College predictions (among others)

He's definitely got the feel of someone who likes to listen to a range of opinions before deciding on a course of action, rather than Trump's style of acting first and finding opinions to support him later. I guess that looks a little bit puppety from certain points of view, especially if certain in...

Re: The Democrats Have Big Problems

Seems a solid assessment, and that's without factoring in the tensions between different wings of the party, and having to navigate the economic fallout from Covid-19. Then you have some fun foreign policy challenges from China to Macron's one man stand against the Islamists, and the inevitable unex...

Their 'betters' ?
You're confused by the word or the meaning? It is an expression of my belief that the Russians consider themselves to be the superior nation and natural leaders of the region, and my disdain for this view. Alternative words could have been overlords or masters.
