Re: Emojis in game chat
I find :^) has an ~80% chance to instantly sour negotiations when used but I just can't help myself.
Re: Lusthog!
I have a few vacations coming up so I will abstain so that you guys don't need to deal with pauses. I had fun in our last game and will check in on this thread when I'm back.

Re: Should Italy open west more?
I think one reason Italy does not go all in on France more often is due to how defensible Spain and Portugal are. Portugal is notably the most isolated SC on the board, only bordering two other territories. When France is under attack from multiple enemies (often Germany and England will both smell ...

Re: Pet peeves
Open mics in the professional world or when gaming.
Daily I have to listen to mouth breathers, people eating, dogs barking, and children screaming.
Mute your mic if you aren't talking or better yet use push to talk.

Re: Games
I like live table blackjack for a few reasons:
- your decisions impact your odds
- right balance of focus/socializing for me
- best odds in the casino if you play correctly
- very smooth learning curve with improved EV for each step

Re: Question about game alerts
Was just wondering this myself. Would be great to get an alert of some kind I could push to my phone so I don't need to obsessively refresh.
I suspect it is not possible and would require a decent amount of development work to set up RSS feed integration for example.

Re: Lusthog!
For rules my preference is:
50pts
SoS Scoring
1 Excused Delay
But I am fine with anything within the boundaries of the original post.

Re: Why Players Prefer Draw-Size Scoring
I disagree with the argument that we are the ones playing word games. We have gotten way off topic arguing over the use of a term that is tangential to the original topic of discussion. No one here is being introduced to Diplomacy for the first time. No one here is making the claim that there is ran...

Re: Why Players Prefer Draw-Size Scoring
Relative to other games you can say there is no randomness in the rules of diplomacy. However you are playing with 6 humans. Humans are unpredictable and irrational. I'd especially like to draw attention to the fact that they each have a life outside of this game that will greatly impact how they pl...

Apologies if this was somewhere in the rules document, but when is the cutoff for no-shows when subs will be brought in?

Re: Why Players Prefer Draw-Size Scoring
This may sound overly simplistic but I have given it some thought. How would people feel about a hybrid scoring system where half the pot was distributed with DSS and the other half is distributed with SoS? I feel as though this would strike a nice balance of rewarding close solo attempts and elimin...
