Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
That could end in another tie, no? Theoretically. For the vote idea, if one team abstains, a 2-2 draw is possible. It's pretty hard to have an exactly equal result if you have tie breaks: Solo obviously wins. If both are part of a draw, most center wins If one makes draw, that one wins. If both are...

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
Like a penalty shootout in football, a tiebreak should distill the game down to its essence. How about if there's a tie, all the other teams vote for the winner? Well, the penalty shootout is about as far from the essence as you can get, but that's another story. How about an anonymous tie break FP...

Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!
I think the two teams should be called “Boring Puddle A” and “Boring Puddle B”. Or maybe just Thing 1 and Thing 2

Re: seeking players for gunboat with EOG discussion so we can improve
Sigh. Maybe we should play with zero excuses so people learn that the first law of gunboat is "get your damn moves in on time."

Awesome. I am in. I might also put in a nudge for folks to ready up when they have their moves. As the saying goes, "it's not like we're waiting on press."

Am I correct in my understanding that games end with the Fall 1918 turn?

Re: ODC 2019 Tournament Start
Shouldn't we try to start the 2020 version sometime during 2020? Or is that going and I missed it?

My AAR is "Jumped into game halfway through when Germany and France had already decided to slice me up, desperately tried to break up the alliance, suffered same fate as Poland in WWII, and heckled from the afterlife."
Also, I ALWAYS play for WebDip, not those filthy PlayDip scum.

Which is a recipe for making bad bots, because what people do is throw the game. All you'll get from that is bad data.

I went back through my bot games and I've won twice as Austria. Both times coming on the back of an Italian Lepanto.

Re: Can we get a Concede button for bot-only games?
Well, maybe if I hadn't played literally five times as many games as you i'd feel like wasting my time watching bots run the board after a stupid bot has decided to suicide into me. (seriously, why does the bot love to do this?) It's a waste of my time and puts me in a bad mood to have to creatively...

Re: Can we get a Concede button for bot-only games?
This. Suuuuuper annoying
And yes, training bots afainst people intentionally losing centers is a bad plan
However, kudos for generally excellent bots. Ive played against bots in many games, and they are generally terrible (looking at you, Civ), but these are really good

Re: Winning as Austria against bots?
Ironically, I just discovered the bots and working my way through the powers to win with each. I just started with Austria, but this last game, I was attacked by Italy, Russia, Turkey AND GERMANY! in Spring 1901. In fact, the thing that saved my bacon was that Germany and Italy were fighting each ot...

Did you miss the deadline? I think the bot orders maybe are calculated after you enter orders, so if you miss the deadline, then so does everyone else?

Re: User names changing
We allow plenty of people to change their usernames. But only when their username exposes their real name. And for obvious reasons, no we will not give a list of those people. The other option is to win Zultar's special prize on the 12 days of giveaways (durga). Thanks for clarifying. I was beginni...
