Back at 1901 all of the eastern Mediterranean coasts was Turkish, so there was no big deal. Today, these same coasts belong to six countries, seven if we count the Palestinian region and eight counting Cyprus, which makes it quite a tension point while a part of Turkey's "research" was inside the Greek national sea.
That's incorrect. Turkey and Greece don't have an agreement to determine where belongs to whom. The continental shelf is bordering to Turkey but it's seas are limited due to an island named Kastellorizo, who belongs to Greece. You should see the map if you want a better understanding of the situation.

Turkey claims that this zone belongs to it because it's bordering Turkish mainland. Greece claims that this zone belongs to it because it's bordering Greek island. Both countries don't recognise each others claim. The solution isn't

The solution is to sit on the negotiation table and share the sea borders. But both countries are unwilling to share it. :eyeroll:

The name of the ship in the banner photo even adds quite a bit to remind us of webdip. @YAVUZ
Yay I'm Turkish I confirm that I am that ship.

If you play the modern variant, it all makes sense :)

I just saw this headline:
Turkey moves ship to contested East Med waters, angering Greece.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/10/ ... escalation

"What's the big deal?" I thought. The Eastern Med is clearly within turkeys sphere of influence. If he had moved to the Aegean, sure, then whichever player occupies Greece would have something to say about it. But E.Med? Take it easy, Greece.

I haven't played a game in about a year, but once you're a diplomat, you see headlines like this differently. You've ruined me, WebDip, and I am forever grateful.
