Are both of these things true about this person?
- He notably held a political office in France. (Any iteration of the French state counts.)
- He was born before January 1, 1795.

No. Besides, he was prime minister for a few months before 1848.

Free guess:
Adolphe Billault
Adolphe Billault
The only person you're truly competing against, Wesley, is yourself.

Sorry, when did we find out that this person didn't hold office before 1848?

Re: 20 Questions: Game 253
I don't think we know that. I think the point was that Guizot was PM.
Anyways, free guess: Adolphe Crémieux.

God, there are a lot of Adolphes in 19th-century French history.

Sorry, I have an urgent family obligation so Twenty Questions will be off for the next little while. Not sure how long but hopefully no more than a day or two.

Alright all, I'm partially back: not completely, but enough that the game can continue. I'll check on here at least a few times a day.

I hope you're doing well, wintergreen. For my free guess, I'll go with King Ludwig I of Bavaria.

Re: 20 Questions: Game 253
Even if my guess is wrong, I strongly suspect this is someone born within modern France who isn't normally associated with France. The fact that every France-related question has been answered with a "no" is suspicious.
Re: 20 Questions: Game 253
I wanted to guess one of several Princes of Monaco who fit the bill, but they are all both "French" (born in Paris) and "members of the nobility" (princes).12. Not a French member of the nobility

Random free guess, likely not him but maybe will yield some hotter/colder info: Eligius Fromentin
