Utility of History?
What is the use of history in society? Should it be taught in public institutions like schools? How should it be taught. In your opinion, does History have any use at all?

Diablo...is making me sad....
....much like fiber. Wife (bless her sexy daned heart!) bought me Diablo for Father's Day. I've gotten it to run *once*. Mostly, the loader loads, I hit "Play" and then....the great void...nothingness...no game. Sadness. Despair. Horrifying discontent. Anyone experience the same? Please advise.

Finally Got My Hands on Boston
I'm not all that sure of what the general musical tastes are on this site. I've seen some very varied responses in threads of old, but I was kind of wondering how many of you still listen to bands like Styx, Cream, or any of those dozens of other bands that will take a very long time to die out of popularity...

EoG Quickie-29
gameID=92031

This was the BIGGEST bullshit game I've played in. As soon as I showed up, England announced to me that he would be promptly CDing at 12 AM (~45 minutes in the future). Russia CDed. Austria wasn't doing well, so decided to try and lose as fast as he could. AND NO ONE THOUGHT THIS TO BE WRONG! What a joke.

Is one better than the other, and why? Or are they both horrible and someone like ralph nader would be better? Share and support your opinions if you wish.

Romney, because we can't afford four more years of failure, inept leadership, and cronyism.

Neither, but my opinion doesn't count.
Obama, because the Republicans done goofed enough already.
"Romney, because we can't afford four more years of failure, inept leadership, and cronyism."

>crony capitalist
>running on a very similar fiscal platform
>speaking in glib generalities

>NOT set up to be a failure, inept leader or cronyist

I'm going to go ahead and preview the rest of this thread:

Liberal: Obama is clearly better than that retarded corporate thief Romney, and Obama is a shining angel (ignoring multiple examples that he's not perfect either).

Conservative: Romney is clearly better than that sinister incompetent socialist Obama, and Romney is a shining angel (ignoring multiple examples that he's not perfect either).

Liberal: I hate you, and anyone who would vote for a candidate I disagree with is evil and will lead to the destruction of our nation.

Conservative: I hate you, and anyone who would vote for a candidate I disagree with is evil and will lead to the destruction of our nation.

Repeat endlessly.
Human: both are hideously flawed, also what Tolstoy said.

The view from outside: American politics is so, so broken. Barab Obabo is not a liberal, Romney is not a conservative. Liberals value individual rights and freedoms. Conservatives are cautious about disruptive change.

I think both suck, but at least obama claims to have beliefs. Romney seeks the position only to further his own personal ambitions. It's really quite sickening to even look at him. A man who cares for nothing but his own power will stop at nothing to further increase that power.
Well, I think the puppet on the left hand seems better than the puppet on the right hand.

Has Obama achieved much in his time at the helm? I recall him making a lot of impressive speeches in his election campaign but haven't heard much about what he's actually done. Did he get that healthcare thing sorted? The British media has mostly ignored America lately.

Onar (131 D)

Well, as far as I know, Obamacare was passed, but won't take effect till 2014. Obama is at least trying to achieve something.
Octavious (2701 D)

If Romney wins does Obamacare get scrapped then, or is it set in stone?
@Octavious: http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/forum/story/2012-03-22/mitt-romney-health-reform-repeal-obamacare/53711598/1

Mitt says he'll repeal it. Depends on whether or not you believe him, would be my guess.

I'll be voting for Gary Johnson. Why? He's the only guy who I actually feel might do a half-decent job and whose agenda I agree with in general. He's against military interventionism, indefinite detainment, and the PATRIOT act, and for marijuana decriminalization, lower taxes AND spending, a free Internet, and constitutionally protected gay marriage. He's like Paul without the crazy and Obama without the going back on all of his promises (hopefully).
