Why are there so many of them on the Forums here? I'm not really around the internet much, is this what it is like everywhere?

Impending Potential Awkward Moment
I have, FOR HISTORICAL INTEREST ONLY, placed a hold on "Mein Kampf." Soon, I shall have the joy of checking it out as quickly as possible and hoping nobody will see me (my library system is self check-out). Anyone else ever have the fun of getting your hands on a copy?

Where Would YOU Nuke the World?
If you had one nuke, where would you let it off?

For the sake of this "game," you cannot give the same location as someone else, and for the sake of argument, the nuke is about as powerful as the Tsar nuke.

A modern variant idea
Having played Dip in person for quite a while along with several variants of it, I have often wondered why a variant has never made the game more 'modern' while maintaining the richness of simplicity.

Why do people do No-In-Game Messaging Games?
I wonder why people do No-In-Game Messaging Games. It is called Diplomacy, what kind of "Diplomacy" is it without talking?

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=65100&msgCountryID=0
This game started before the pause and we have not begun the game. The player who is England has been absent for over a week and the game is stuck on pause and we cannot draw or cancel without him. Can a moderator draw the game so it does not remain forever.

Enemy in a Thread....Enemy in a GAME????
Recently learned that someone that I frequently disagree with in forum threads...you might even call him an "enemy" in the threads....took over a position in a game I was in. At first, per the normal course of Diplomacy...I tried to coordinate with him....and yet his moves were specific and aggressive....

Plumbing...
Of all home repairs, plumbing is the task that I despise *the most*. Water will always seek the easiest...and most annoying....path. I have ripped out carpet and laid down flooring, done electrical, painted, wall-papered, done gas lines....but off everything I do, **plumbing** is my nemesis. For any plumbing project, it is *three* trips, guaranteed, to the Home Despot..

What is YOUR least favorite home chore/repair?

I have repaired my furnace, my washing machine, my dryer, replaced my dish washer, done light fixtures, built a deck....I am a handy guy, for sure, but plumbing is evil.

I found a leak under my sink. The trap was leaking....so I disasembled, cleaned up the connections, and re-assembled. Problem solved.....except that while under the sink , I realized that the supply VALVE to the dish wahser wash leaking. When the valve it open (i.e. supplying water to teh dish washe) it leaks. So I go to shut off the valve downstairs so I can remove valve, buy replacement, etc.....it is supplied directly from the hot water heater. There are *no** shut off valves anywhere in between. So I decide to shut off the hot water tank supply....I turn the valve....and it breaks. Not leaking....but the valve spins and spins and spins and spins....in other words, in order to do this repair, I ahve to shut off the *whole house* water supply.

Since my experience is that ALL plumbing jobs take 3+ trips to teh store, I am NOT ready to shut off the whole house water supply...

Oh....and that dish washer I installed? It works great. The old dishwasher was leaking so bad it was rotting out the floor underneath ( which I repaired....sigh...)....but now the new right-angle inlet valve to the dishwasher is leaking....again. I've already replaced the connection once....and it still leaks.

Fuck water. I hate water. I about to vow to never shower again so that I don't have to give water any credit for my good looks....

Tell me your problems. Tell me that I am not alone in home repair agony!!!

Not the least favorite but since I spent several hours today on it... painting high ceiling when the last layers didn't receive enough attention - too few primer and too few paint for the environment. Not only it kills neck like regular ceiling painting, falling pieces need to be replaced with putty and the whole procedure generally sucks.

I think the whole "swishing" sound would drive me batty.

Painting Ceilings....yeah....THAT one sucks too. Not to mention making a straight line of color where ceiling meets wall. And those stupid "edger" paint things you can buy never work. it takes a steady hand....or crown molding....

Striping wall paper....Ugh....awful.....horrifying....
I thought of something else, too...but it was so evil that my mind instantly purged it!

In short....I'm starting to think that my ultimate goal is to ....BE A RENTER!

Painting ceilings is my pet hate aswell... especially when painting white onto white in one of those "freshening up" exercises that woman are so keen on. The desperate manouverings into those few corners of the roon where the light is good enough to see where the hell you've been is enough to drive you mad. Wallpaper stripping and tiling come pretty close in the nightmare stakes too.

Plumbing, though, is a pure pleasure! I love the look and feel of the copper, and bending the metal into shape is almost therapeutic. Carpet fitting is rather satisfying aswell :).

I tell I lie! I've just remembered the worst job that was so extreme I had expunged it totally from my mind. Putting rockwool insulation into my roof. I have never thought it possible to be that itchy for that long! It took me about a dozen showers to be free of the damned stuff!

Dad was a carpenter, I have a CompE degree (extremely close to an EE) so electrical is no biggie.... I can stud up a basement in a weekend... but what I despise?
DRYWALL

If you screw up, take it down put up another... but that isn't the part I hate... it's the waiting. Mud it, wait overnight... sand it.... clean it... wait.... mud again... wait.... sand again... clean.... wait.... ugh!

I'm with you on plumbing. I was repairing a house in Louisiana that was up on pier blocks, just high enough that you could crawl under. The drain line that the previous guy had installed wasn't glued at the joints (what a genius) and he had it at a slight UPWARD angle.

Long story short, a pipe had fallen out of a joiner and human waste was piling up under the house. Guess who had to climb under there and properly re-attach the pipe? The same guy who decided to go back to college.

Plumbing... Got to be plumbing. Second is anything involving ladders to get up on the roof as I have a small fear of heights.

A scenario that I'm unsure of - need explanation of results
If during spring I move an army into an SC province and then in autumn I move said army into another SC province but get bumped back from that second province, retreating back to the first SC province, would I still gain ownership of said first province even though I retreated back to it or would I, in that case, not have ownership of either SC province? Thanks for your input.
