I have repaired my furnace, my washing machine, my dryer, replaced my dish washer, done light fixtures, built a deck....I am a handy guy, for sure, but plumbing is evil.
I found a leak under my sink. The trap was leaking....so I disasembled, cleaned up the connections, and re-assembled. Problem solved.....except that while under the sink , I realized that the supply VALVE to the dish wahser wash leaking. When the valve it open (i.e. supplying water to teh dish washe) it leaks. So I go to shut off the valve downstairs so I can remove valve, buy replacement, etc.....it is supplied directly from the hot water heater. There are *no** shut off valves anywhere in between. So I decide to shut off the hot water tank supply....I turn the valve....and it breaks. Not leaking....but the valve spins and spins and spins and spins....in other words, in order to do this repair, I ahve to shut off the *whole house* water supply.
Since my experience is that ALL plumbing jobs take 3+ trips to teh store, I am NOT ready to shut off the whole house water supply...
Oh....and that dish washer I installed? It works great. The old dishwasher was leaking so bad it was rotting out the floor underneath ( which I repaired....sigh...)....but now the new right-angle inlet valve to the dishwasher is leaking....again. I've already replaced the connection once....and it still leaks.
Fuck water. I hate water. I about to vow to never shower again so that I don't have to give water any credit for my good looks....
Tell me your problems. Tell me that I am not alone in home repair agony!!!
