Non-anonymous GR game
I'd like to setup a non-anonymous game, with buy-in of about 50-100 D, preferably with people in top 300 GR.

Any takers?

Looking for games to join
I'm running low on active games. Would anyone care to play me?

I probably won't have time for a live game any time soon, but anything over 24hr is fine with me. WTA preferred, but again I'll play anything. Same thing for communication.

What would you do if you were God?
I have noticed that the forum is used for discussions about things not related to the site in addition to site-related threads. Even philosophy. So I thought I would ask this question which has interested me. The question is long so wait for the first response.

Illegal Drugs in the UK
Hi all, so I'm wondering what all you UK'ers think about these drugs, how they are sold on the street, how prevelant they are, and your thoughts regarding drugs grown and how they benefit the economy. I'm interested to hear your replies. Thanks.

England: We had an interesting thing going on with a potential Western Triple, but Italy's smoking-out of it doomed it almost as much as Germany's inability to communicate. I didn't take any glee in stabbing you, I just figured that it was better to go with Italy who was already at war and needed at least my passive support than you, who would always been a threat. Sorry it didn't work out, you played well. (with the exception of that one botched move, but you knew about that even then)

Germany: I'm not sure if this guy is going to play anymore, but if he does see this.... three word responses badly spelled don't make for people wanting to work with you. I was almost(ALMOST!) ashamed of how much I manipulated you during the game to do dirty work for me... without your contributions, England would have taken a lot longer, and might have held me off.

Italy, my erstwhile domestic partner. We worked together very well until I tried to go for a win. I still wish I'd have been able to pull it off.... I was hoping that you and Turkey had too much bad blood to turn against me that quickly (figured I might get at least another turn before that happened). Good game, hope you don't hold my final run against me

Austria: I didn't really interact with you (I did try to feel you out as a potential ally if Italy turned hostile, but never got anything back). You tried to hold back the Italians, but it didn't work out.

Russia: You started strong, but your CD in the middle really screwed over my long term plans with Italy and Turkey.... Turkey was able to get fairly fricking huge with minimal work.

Turkey: You played very well, and had some extremely lucky breaks. And you were able to put aside your major distrust for Italy to come in for the draw.

As for me, the western triple was proposed early on, which I went along with verbally (because I'm not interested in a E/G alliance against me), but slow-walked anything against Italy, who I had been in fairly productive conversations with. Germany looked to be the soft spot in the E/G/F, and with Italy yelling about the Western Triple, it was a dead letter. England and I started chopping up Germany. I did forsee that once Germany was gone, at the very least, I'd have been at the mercy of England, because I'd never be allowed to build up a fleet capable of challenging him as an ally. So before Germany was gone, I gambled and attacked England. Luckily, it worked out, but it was definitely a throw of the dice. Once England and Germany were gone, and Austria had been eliminated, it just came down to seeing if Italy and Turkey could secure a stalemate line before I could grab 18.. I fell one short.

I enjoyed the game. :)

As England, one missed order blew the whole game. I'm sure Jack thinks he could have taken me eventually, but if I hadn't let him into Liverpool I'd still be at it.

Frustrated by the other losers (Germany & Russia) who decided to turn on each other and me rather than trying to stick together against a common enemy. Germany took every opportunity to stab me and ended up out of the game. But I don't blame him for my defeat. If only I'd entered my orders more carefully... :)

By the way, despite Jack's misgivings, I had no intention of going after France. Lesson learned: if you can kick your ally's ass, they'll stab you even if you don't plan to do it.

Eh, I understand that (even if I don't entirely believe it... if going to war with me never crossed your mind, then you may need to start being more devious.) The big thing was that I had to choose between Italy and England, (because I couldn't build fleets allied to you both... neither of you were stupid, and would have seen that coming a mile off)... Italy was fully committed to a war in the East, while our war on Germany was winding down.

I just don't like existing on another players sufferance... if I hadn't build up the navy, I would have always been at your mercy, and I think most players would agree that's not a good long-term policy. :)

A History of the Site
I first joined this site a couple of years ago, only to leave (in a very regrettable fashion), for a year. Coming back a year later, I'm amazed at all the changes, not the least of which being my difficulty in finding the site that I knew as phpdiplomacy.

After seeing the request by some even newer members of the community throughout the forum for "tales of the days of yor", I'd like to challenge some of the older members of the site to attempt a history of this community.
