They're the same program but are independent.

I joined the facebook edition , but there are too many ads, and sometimes it takes a while to load. I am going to keep playing here for a while .

I started on facebook and have an a rcord I'm prud of over there... undefeated in 16 games with about 2800 pts.... wish I could transfer all that here. Hehehe

Speaking of which... ghost, ever figure out if you could do ghostratings for the FB dip app?

FB has apparently alot more CDs and alot worse quality play. It takes TGM a while to do the ratings, so I wouldn't expect him to do it.

The FB version is the same game-play but has a separate player list.

FB restrict the abilities of programs run via FB, so it has fewer bells and whistles - message windows don't auto-scroll to the last message, you can't step the map backwards and forwards through time, the fb-forum app is complete crap, there's loads of adverts, etc...

I've given up playing the FB version.

disagree with centurian completely. my experience has been relatively equal # of nmrs and cds... and some of the best players ive met online... julien, stephen, avignion, fizi, warriorpoet, etc.... great set of players and nice close-nit community.

but bc of what speaker said i prefer to play here.

Oh, and out of interest, who are you comparing them to here - who are the best here you remember playing?

fig - tried, they like it there. and they have worked hard to build their rep and their records there, so its tough for them to just give it all up to be treated as a newbie on this sister site.

most online top players i'm comparing them to are from my PBEM games on cat23(gone now), dipcorp, and ACD (invite only 'elite' dippers only community - Acadamy of Creative Destruction).

here, i have not finished any games with the top top players yet (have not had the points), though im in a game with TGM, rait, and madmarx now... so maybe i'll have more valid points of comparison soon. so far, few players have really stood out to me... sswing, rratclif, argento are a few that jump out at me from memory... need to go look at my own profile to see who else i'd include.

I'll second what Babak says about some good players on Facebook. Those players he mentioned are really good. It's a shame they won't come and play here. They could contribute a lot to this community.

I've played all the old crowd, and they're all good. I have to admit I think the HoF is a very good rating system actually. Some players are over rated there (me) and some are underrated (chrispminis). Obviously new players take some time to get going, and some just don't play enough, but the top players there are still the best here. I do rather feel for rait because he was the first clear-cut leader here and it would seem his opponents have taken this into account since!

I've asked Ghost to add another column to the May Ghostrating - giving a players total points, but i don't know if he gets given current game data.

spyman - I do agree... would be great to get them here... I wish kestas could come up with a way to 'tansfer' those accts here or to 'combine' them with a current account here... that would be wicked cool ;)

The facebook install isn't run by Kestas though.
If it was I'm pretty sure it would be nothing more than a different login mechanism to use this site. Unfortunately this is not the case, and the setups are completely separate.
