I didn't unpause it last-time because I didn't want to set a precedent. It's one thing unpausing when a player is not responding, but what about this case. Obviously it can be done, but what is the general view:
"Is it fair to unpause a game because most players in it want to resume, but one person has explicitly opposed this?"

no it's not fair. so we wait til when? and if he comes back n unpauses, which we do not know if he will, and since its 12hr turns we might miss it since i don't check as often now. he will not answer anyone. and we have all unpaused, except aorno. pls help

i'll pause indefinitely then. that way he cannot unfairly disadvantage me, as he's inconvenienced all other 6 players. if he had a reason to give, fine. but he has no decency to do even that!

Well, the reason I asked the question is that I was hoping to get some other people's views. If I'm in the minority obviously I'll unpause it.

In response to your other points, do stay calm, I know it's annoying but you did know this could happen when you paused. Also, if you think its wrong that he's not unpausing, doing the same yourself won't make you any better.

Adorno: it would be polite to give your opponents some indication of when/why you intend to unpause...

personally, I think if the guy is logging on to other games and entering moves, and not giving any reason why he's not willing to unpause, then the rudeness of that action justifies a forced unpause and if he goes CD, so be it. Pausing is for when you know you can't be around for a while. This guy was logged into one of his games as recently as 2 hours ago and even finalized his moves. Yet he doesn't respond in the other game?

That's just rude. I vote for unpause

I'm playing the game in question. Adorno has not responded to any of our requests to unpause nor for information as to why he remains paused. It's very frustrating and not to mention quite rude. It would be much appreciated if the moderator can unpause the game in this exceptional circumstance.

He is expected to give a reason in game for the continued pause. If he cannot offer a reason and offer some date when he will be ready to continue. If he cannot do this then a mod will unpause the game.

I just think 4 days with no courtesy, and to have the audacity to log on and finalise other games just not this one is quite arrogant and rude.
No need for an excuse, he should be cd' or at least, the game unpaused, so the others can get at him.

Could you also unpause him in the game "Welcome to the House of Fun" (http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=7517)? There's still one player (Kiralen) other than him who has yet to unpause, and I'm willing to wait to hear from him, but Adorno is just being rude.

That game's been paused more like two weeks, actually. But be patient, Sagittarius. Don't rush moderators. Or anyone else, really, but moderators in particular.

I heard that yesterday and now today, but really no one has given a legitimate reason for this guy to pause fr ages and ages!!!
Or why it takes so long to unpause a legitimate game and request.

Sag - I haven't unpaused it because I just learned of the issue by reading this thread about 4 hours ago. I'm not about to immediately unpause a game just because someone requests it. Leaving a game paused for a few extra hours hurts no one. Unpausing a game prematurely, for example while someone is still out of town, is much worse.

The reason I didn't unpause this when I first thread through it was that in the other thread we had a response from Adorno saying he was ready, and I didn't want to force an unpause on a player who had categorically said he didn't want it without checking with others what their view was.
Still, this is starting to get a bit silly, and as he's playing other games it seems rather unfair that yours hasn't been unpaused.

Adorno logged into a game a few minutes ago, so this is the last chance to explain yourself. Please respond Adorno or the games will be unpaused...

Unless there is a good reason for a game not to go on (player away, bug occurred, cheating accusation etc.) It should not be paused. We must all remember what the pause is for.

ok, so adorno popped in, asked for a draw with absolutely no mention of pause, reasons, etc. Then left.

Can this end already, no one is going to draw a game one year in. He needs to just go CD like regular player who can't play.

Well, we've given him many chances to speak up in this, and I've emailed him personally. He's been on, entered the game (this can be seen by his active time, which is currently around 20mins ago), therefore he cannot claim that he does not know of this thread.

wow - sagitarius is daniel-san? I guess when you're multiaccounting, you have to take on some other persona and try to stick with it. Daniel-san was a rude little bitch calling people names in every post. Sagitarius seemed like a normal player with a legitimate gripe - and in other threads I never got the impression that Sag was ever rude. Interesting.
