"by convoy", "by land"?

Is there a reason moving an army to an adjacent coastal territory I get the option to go "by convoy" or "by land"? Is there a good reason one would convoy a unit between adjacent territories?

AFK Player

We just started a game (League of Nations) and it is Autumn 1901. While I realize that Austria might have accidentally missed his turn, he has also done no correspondence at all, leaving me to wonder if he's really going to play at all.

Phpdiplomacy game stats - best country to play

I ran a quick script out of curiosity to see which countries win the most on phpdiplomacy. Just got the "finished games" pages and parsed the HTML. Turkey turns out to be the best country! Full stats below the fold.

The rub with the global press is that there is a limited amount of space in the global message window, and you can miss vital communication if you don't check it often

This is what is called 'Wilson Style' play.
It is the opposite version of Gunboat in that all communication is done in the open. It can be a lot of fun in Face to Face and is used mostly when there is less than 7 players *typically 4-5* in an Escalation Setting however it is also used FtF late night games with a 3-5 minute deadline while waiting for another round to open up or various liquids to be consumed in quantity.

The problem of CD/NMR is not really approachable in this code configuration. One site has a functional AI code where the GM can hit a button and the AI makes the moves. I also run a Gunboat tournament with the Easy Does It system where when the deadline comes I will input any missing orders to keep the game going and then get the player back on track or find a replacement if there is a problem.

Another Thread about PPSC vs WTA

The more I play on this site the more I wish I could get more WTA games going. I just really don't feel like PPSC games provide the Dip experience that is intended by the game.

They are still good practice, but WTA games are where its at in my opinion. Sure wish it was easier to get people to join them...

Problems with order resolutions
