Chaqa, havign your number in a phone book is different from some random stranger finding it and then giving it out to people asking them to send you death threats....Like they don't just post the info. They post the info so people spam you with hate mail.

And wasn't purposely posted to message boards whose sole purpose was to aggravate people who hate you and wanted to be able to threaten you

I'm sorry we got onto gamergate, but i do believe that the gamergaters latched onto the idea of 'cultural marxism' - they also call people cucks, and beta males... and those who justify doxxing would also go a step further and call in swat teams.

As for what happened, i know from personal experience that i felt angry with Anita Sarkessien when i watched one of her videos on tropes against women in video games. I like video game and it hurt me to see them attacked. But that knee-jerk response didn't result in me going to a group of like minded people and advocating for harassment and hate mail...

So i can understand the gamer-gate movement; people felt hurt by women. And they lashed out in pathetic knee-jerk responses that would make you question their credentials as functioning adults. And they went on to justify their knee-jerk responses to each other and built on them. They went from knee-jerk response to pre-meditated harassment.

I mean, Anita Sarkeesian does make pretty shitty videos. I remember she raised a ton of money to make videos on games, and then didn't play the games she was supposed to, and yet criticized them (without having played them)

Not leon, but I very much disagree. A movement shouldn't be judged just by motives or results. Look at BLM. Great motives initially, but it has turned into a pretty awful organization.

If BLM has great motives, but shitty results, and you want to do good in the world, you should take those motive and do something good - whether that means trying something else or trying to change the movement.
