redhouse is actually one of the more interesting posters on the board. I don't actually agree with much that he says but he has an admirable sense of decorum and usually displays a willingness to examine issues from both sides.

It's just used to show that you like a post, much like on facebook. They also keep track of them on your profile page, so some people *coughzultarcough* try to make posts that accumulate them so that they can feel more popular.

If you see a post made by "2ndWhiteLine," it means you have to give it a +1 for its wit, thoughtfulness, and creativity.

It's good form to ask the respective ministers for approval before posting a thread though. For example King Atom heads the symphonic department, Conservative Man is in charge of sex ed, President Eden handles anything .gif related, krellin is the head ALL CAPSer and a Jew thread has to approved BOTH by SantaClausowitz and obiwanobiwan.

This forum is pretty laid back, there are only a few real restrictions that you can get in trouble for breaking. The first would be posting cheating accusations, another would be talking about ongoing gunboat games. Another topic to avoid is posting any login information which is rarely a problem. The last one that immediately comes to mind is spamming the forum. In other words making multiple new threads in a short time *cough* like 14 in 4 days *cough*. Please make sure to check out the rules at http://www.webdiplomacy.net/rules.php and ask any questions on rules you don't understand.

@JMO - I think it could be argued that diplomacy related threads like rules questions are legit and don't add to the "spamming" count. Wouldn't you agree?

In fact, every question I've asked I've tried to find something on here that answers it. I even said in the question prior to asking it that I tried to find the answer in Help and I did not find it.

But I will refrain from posting in the forum from henceforth since it is such an annoyance. Which your comment seriously annoys me, because I'm trying to learn on a site and am asking questions about this board and how to play the online version and there are no answers in the FAQs and Help that I can find; yet there is all kinds of crap spewed in this forum that nobody seems to mind.

I'll be the first to admit, I'm apparently some dolt that can't read and find the answers, although I've read everything on this board. Either that, or someone needs to take all my Noob Questions and the brilliant answers provided and add them to the Help/FAQ.

Moondust, don't mind jmo, he had to replace Geofram, which forces him to be the bad cop. He's actually a very nice person.

I'm having a hard time determining if you're actually concerned or just giving jmo a hard time. I don't think he was actually accusing you of doing anything wrong.

I am trying to make a point that the mods have more rights and power than regular posters. With great power comes great responsibility. We can't mute mods amd when they make a statement to a noob, the noob will logically assume.it is a binding statement because it came.from a mod.

This mod filth is corrupting our childr... I mean, our noobs.

@Draugnar, I actually though that was a pretty nice way of saying a new player was getting close to spamming and offering to explain any question they still had. It was not a taunt, it was a warning, as I'm sure you remember Kestas (the site owner if you don't know Moondust) quite recently banned several players for spamming. I'd really rather avoid a potential repeat of that situation.

As for the mod comment, that is being dealt with. You have mentioned in the past that you don't expect these conversations to be made in public, but the moderators do discuss what is and isn't acceptable to say on the forum. If you have not noticed, I've been working on cutting down on the "filth" all over the forum right now. If I really was going to abuse my power as a moderator it would be by silencing the endless trashing of players, not by intimidating a new player. Please keep in mind that not only do mods not mute other players, we actually read all the trash on the forum to make sure it isn't breaking the rules, which is why we do occasionally go off on someone. Please try to be understanding in those circumstances, we are only human after all.

@Moondust, I was not being insulting, I was informing you that there are guidelines for the forum located in that link I provided. I also was letting you know that I'd be happy to answer any of the questions you have that aren't answered in that link. Again I'll extend that offer to ask any questions you have about the rules/site. You have my attention, abge's and Draugnar's, I'd be impressed if you could ask a question about the site that none of us could answer for you :)

OK. Sorry for misunderstanding. It read as a threat to me just as it did to moondust and considering all her posts were relevant and pertaimed to the site (well most were) it seemed kind of harsh to threaten a new player with silencing just for asling questions.
