ghug, he certainly owes obi nothing. He required an escrow, and obi never came through with one. No bet was made.

dub's a closer case, since somebody (but not dub) did suggest an escrow in that case (kestas) and krellin never responded. But, kestas never agreed, dub never agreed to kestas or sent money, and krellin never responded. While you might poke fun at him for not responding to that thread, no bet was made, so no money is owed.

Kestas was a perfect escrow suggestion. That krellin never responded after my post superseded me sending money to kestas, much less posting an approval. I did post a second time saying that I'd take the bet, but krellin was not to be seen. Bet was proposed by krellin and accepted on my part. I don't see how a bet was not made. Since when must we have an escrow to have a bet? I guess this is what krellin's party would call a "legitimate bet," because the natural defenses have shut it down.

dub, an escrow is required for there to be a bet if either party says an escrow is required. Moreover, once an escrow is agreed to, the bet is not made till the money is received by the escrow.

So the correct description of this scenario is that krellin offered a bet and then backed down and didn't make the bet, once you agreed; not that he made a bet and owes you $1000.

He never responded to your bet at all, dub. Your only claim to the existence of a bet at all is that you can respond to his general/obi offer. (Which required an escrow).

I agree that the bet wasn't ever made. Obi didn't put up the escrow and Krellin never responded to dubmdell. Krellin might be full of shit, but I don't think he actually renegged on a bet. Maybe he never saw the offer or maybe he realized he would lose and decided not to take the chance with someone that could meet the escrow. PS Krellin is still a jerk but the OP is actually pretty funny.
