Oy Vey--Can Someone Explain to Me Why...
...there's a RABBI on a Christian TV Network...reading from the New Testament and teaching people how to follow Jesus as their Messiah?
Either you're another Jews for Jesus guy--in which case...no...just no...that ship sailed 2,000 years ago, and you're talking about "calling ourselves Christians" so I don't think that's it--or some Christian network got a fake rabbi or dressed someone up...why? O.o

I *so* win...
And having thrown this bomb, I will ignore this thread and let the silly trolls cry out in vain once again. You're so easily manipulated...and I'd say you know who you are, but you might truly be too stupid to recognize how I manipulate you.

Noob Question: Playing for Fun versus Blood
Are there a lot of people or "that one person per game" who plays for blood and not fun? And pretty much ruins it for others. Is that typically to be expected in these games 100%?
Everyone wants to get something different out of a game, occasionally your attitude and the attitude of another player may clash and it may interfere with both your enjoyments of the game. Such is life.

Sorry Moondust, but lots of us play to win. We don't go in for the care bear "make sure evryone has fun". This is a cutthroat game and players have to be eliminated. You lie, cheat and steal your way to the top so long as you don't break site rules.

^

People can get quite personal over it. I say things that I don't really mean in press games pretty frequently, but hey, I'm an asshole, so it's to be expected. There are definitely things that others have done to get back at someone else that have completely screwed me.

I play for fun. Sometimes that means I cut your throat. Sometimes I do bat shit crazy stuff. I don't try to be a dick, but sometimes I'm sure it comes across that way.

What is best in life?

To crush your opponents. See their armies driven before you. And hear the lamentations of their navies.

Playing to win (AKA playing for blood) *is* fun.

I never said it wasn't. I certainly don't play to lose.

Well as long as everyone plays the game that way, I'll not feel badly when I do it too! thanks! :)

Playing for blood *is* fun.
Generally, I play to win by having fun. It's only when I've cast aside all pressures and expectations of victory that I see openings that I missed before and feel confident enough to take the chances that I wouldn't take otherwise. You can't go out and seize a victory; it has to come to you. So I just play to have fun, stay relaxed, do some less orthodox things and see what happens. If I'm *not* playing that way, I'm off my game.

That said, I think most people are more focused on winning and winning alone. So watch out! You sound like more of a fun-first player. I'd advise you to keep that mindset. I adapted it around the end of 2010 - results on my profile speak for themselves.

In general a lot of the player are going for your throat. But, you still can have fun :)
Moondust (195 D)

Thanks for the advice!! I will have fun and do a little cut-throat as necessary -- but only to those who truly deserve it! ;)

I like a fun game, myself, but seeing as the fun stops if I'm eliminated...
I think President Eden summed up my view of it best. You play to win, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun in doing it. Trying unorthodox things, etc. can be bloody fun and also lead to success. If I'm not playing seemingly erratically, then I'm off my game.

If we can find a few more girls we can do an all girls game. That will either be fantastically fun or horrifically catty.

Anyone here a miner? Are Bitcoins the currency of the future, or just a great ponzi scheme for people good with computers, but bad at math and economics? Does anyone even know what Bitcoins are? Thoughts?

Good game I guess. After Egypt and Carthage just disappeared I knew I was in trouble. You honestly should have just drawn, Rome, the game became unfair at that point.

Are players allowed to threaten delay of game because they want in on a draw?
I am in a game where a player is about to lose because he stabbed me and I won't let him in on a draw now. Despite the inevitable, he is taking the full phase-length to enter moves to be a pain in the ass. Previously, he was entering moves immediately after phase start. Is this meta-gaming allowed, or can we somehow get him banned / speed things up?

Please vote draw, Rome. 2 players have left and it's become a bit unfair because of that.
