The game was pretty much run-of-the-mill. I was Germany. I was lucky to have a noob playing France, so I could concentrate on England (SplitDiplomat) and Russia (MichiganMan, who is a noob with a whole lot of points). Italy and Austria (seth and achillies) struck an alliance right from the start. Too bad. If it wasn't for that alliance, I would have won. As it was, they dismantled Turkey (noob) and turned north. It ended as a G-I-A draw. I was slow in the endgame, as usual, and ended at only 16 SCs. Damn.

What makes me pretty satisfied is that I outguessed and outplayed SplitDiplomat all by my modest self. Last time it was a Russia-Turkey duel and he complained that Russia should never stab Turkey. I wonder which rule I broke this time :D

Just your playing style... I am very surprised i guessed correct that you were Germany, I just figured that you were a good player, but not 'SD' Good... and that it was easy to stalemate you at the end.

Instead, you went to Scandinavia and let Italy eat him. Then you move StP back to Moscow in Spring 1903?! Why did you go to Scandinavia in the first place? Your indecisiveness cost you the game.

I saw that England opened north, and that you were likely going to have a fight with France on your hands. Then, Turkey stopped moving to the Black Sea and build a southern fleet. Look to me like he was going to protect against a Lepanto. Instead, Turkey tries to convoy to Rumania and then hits Seve to cut my support and lost Bulgaria. At that point, I realize that I didn't have an ally in Turkey, that Austria was going to swallow me up, and that you were coming at me. Not a very good position to be in. I didn't let Italy do anything, Turkey did that all on his own. I am not saying that my miscalculation(s) didn't cost me the game -- isn't EVERY game lost on miscalculations. I thought France and England would unite against you and I might have a chance in the north. Obviously I was incorrect.

The game is the game -- you make your bed and sleep in it. That is why I love to play it. What I don't love, is your condescending attitude towards me every time we play.

Noobish France sent all the wrong signals at the beginning. SplitDiplomat thought there would be a G-F alliance and built a fleet in Liverpool. France felt betrayed and started fighting him right away, even though he had built two armies!

Yeah, I was lucky there, but what decided the northern battlefield was my move to Norwegian Sea in Spring 1903. SplitDiplomat thought I'd be greedy :) MM, maybe you would have accomplished something if you stayed in Scandinavia to fight me together with SplitDiplomat. But we'll never know.
