Other Diplomacy Sites
I play diplomacy on this and another (http://www.playdiplomacy.com/) site. Does anyone else know of other sites to play on?

I ask because the more sites I play on, the better the chance of me finding the variant I'm looking for. Actually, what I really need is for everyone on both sites to play on both sites, giving me even more games to choose from...

I have a question : Please look to it.
Few days before i posted that F gascony should not support hold F Spain South Coast. I was told that there is no problem in doing that..
Then why don't F Spain (sc) is not able to support hold F Gascony. And is it possible for a fleet at Norway to support hold Fleet at StP (sc) ?

Unforseen events
I am playing a live game right now but I need to leave very soon. Something unforseen has come up. Is there anyone willing to sit my account for a few hours for the live game? Send me a PM, we'll make sure we're not in any of the same games otherwise.

CSteinhardt learned his lesson and made ample use of CDs.

Otherwise, it was a freakish game. Turkey was a total noob. Austria was very bad too. Russia fought against me (England) like a lion for years, but when Germany made the first eastward move, Russia went CD. Go figure.

In the end, Italy (CSteinhardt) took advantage of three CDs to wipe up the map. See, CSteinhadt, no need to be hysterical about it, is there?

I was Germany and I am trying to ''figure'', please enlighten me.

I think I've been pretty clear in the forums on my policy. If you advertise a game in which powers are only supposed to cancel/draw in the event of a CD if it's in their best interest, and not out of courtesy, then I am willing to play by those rules, as long as everybody has the same expectation.

In this case, because Russia and Turkey kept coming back and forth, there wasn't actually an opportunity to resolve the game until Fall 1906. At that point I set my cancel flag, and immediately saw Germany (who had just picked up two builds) unset his draw flag.

As I said, I'm not willing to play by a different set of rules than the other players in the game. Once Germany unset his draw flag, I was playing the game until the end unless Germany was eliminated. The CDs did not cause the solo; they caused a three-way draw. France and Germany had me stopped pretty easily, but France defended inaccurately, leading to the solo.

Incidentally, once I got to Spain, in the last move France did submit orders, but they were mostly holds. I'm not sure why, and had I seen that happen, I would have evaluated the position and tried to figure out whether from Spain I was going to force something like Por+Mar or Spa+Mar or not, and draw/play on accordingly. I never had the opportunity to do that, because France *did* submit orders in its last turn (so there was no way for me to know that they were mostly but not all holds), and the game ended before I got to see those orders and react to them.

Well CS I seem to remember you unset your cancel flag at some point too. I make no complaint about that, except to say that it is a bit rich for you to raise that matter in the forum.

CSteinhardt, by the way, you played a game I advertised, which goes against your code of honor, if I remember correctly. Let me be blunt, are you a pompous asshole, yes or no?

@fulhamish - I unset my cancel flag when I saw that you had unset your draw flag. If you accidentally unset the draw flag (I know I've mistakenly set/unset flags from mobile phones before), then I apologize. If you check my history, you'll see that when a CD materially affects the game, I cancel/draw.

@Zmaj - I think I've been clear in the past on this, but perhaps I haven't managed to express myself clearly. So, let me go ahead and try:

1) I believe the honorable way to play the game is to play against humans -- that's the challenge. When I went for the solo, I went as an Italy submitting orders against a human France submitting orders and a human Germany submitting orders. The CDs did not create the solo; they created the conditions for a three-way endgame.

2) I understand that some players do not play in a manner that I consider honorable. I do not see it as a reasonable to have CDs lead to cancels when it benefits me but to continued games when it benefits them. Rather, it is only fair if everybody is playing by the same rules. So, my default assumption on this site is that players will cancel/draw when a CD materially affects the game. If, during the course of play, I observe a power using draw/cancel based upon perceived advantage, I will do the same as long as that power is alive. Similarly, if one of the players I know uses draw/cancel based upon advantage advertises a game, I will play by their rules. Although, even under those rules, I will probably draw instead of take a solo if the CD is the determining factor in the solo.

And, Zmaj, if you will promise to draw/cancel even in positions that benefit you going forward, I will treat games that you advertise accordingly. That's the best solution, because it's most fun for everybody involved. If any of this is unclear, feel free to ask and I'll clarify it for you. Since I believe my policy on this is reasonable, I have no desire to hide it.

No Zmaj I am not accusing you of cheating, why would you think that I was?

I am asking you, however, why you made this remark: ''Germany made the first eastward move, Russia went CD. Go figure.''
Were you accusing me of cheating, yes or no? If not then what am I supposed to figure?

CSteinhardt, damn you're boring! But you're very patient too, you devil. OK, I understand your way of thinking. I don't think I'll draw if I can benefit from a CD after 1903, but you never know, I change my mind easily.

Some other noob questions
For the voting, I have a few questions.
1. For a draw, does it have to be unanimous?
2. For a pause, how does that work? I understand a pause if you need some extra time due to outside reasons, but does it have to be unanimous as well? Or can you just request it from a mod?
3. Is cancel to cancel a game? If so, why would that be an option instead of draw?

Can someone older/wiser/more experienced please clarify what the various levels of in-game chat mean? And if a game is "no chat" - am i right in assuming it means no comms at all?
