@fulhamish - I unset my cancel flag when I saw that you had unset your draw flag. If you accidentally unset the draw flag (I know I've mistakenly set/unset flags from mobile phones before), then I apologize. If you check my history, you'll see that when a CD materially affects the game, I cancel/draw.
@Zmaj - I think I've been clear in the past on this, but perhaps I haven't managed to express myself clearly. So, let me go ahead and try:
1) I believe the honorable way to play the game is to play against humans -- that's the challenge. When I went for the solo, I went as an Italy submitting orders against a human France submitting orders and a human Germany submitting orders. The CDs did not create the solo; they created the conditions for a three-way endgame.
2) I understand that some players do not play in a manner that I consider honorable. I do not see it as a reasonable to have CDs lead to cancels when it benefits me but to continued games when it benefits them. Rather, it is only fair if everybody is playing by the same rules. So, my default assumption on this site is that players will cancel/draw when a CD materially affects the game. If, during the course of play, I observe a power using draw/cancel based upon perceived advantage, I will do the same as long as that power is alive. Similarly, if one of the players I know uses draw/cancel based upon advantage advertises a game, I will play by their rules. Although, even under those rules, I will probably draw instead of take a solo if the CD is the determining factor in the solo.
And, Zmaj, if you will promise to draw/cancel even in positions that benefit you going forward, I will treat games that you advertise accordingly. That's the best solution, because it's most fun for everybody involved. If any of this is unclear, feel free to ask and I'll clarify it for you. Since I believe my policy on this is reasonable, I have no desire to hide it.
