GR Public Press Game
I have not played a good (or any) public press game for a long time. I wonder if it is possible to have 7 out of the top 50 GR players join such a game. This can be anon or non-anon and it should be 36 or 48 hours. WTA only. Indicate your interest inside (please sign up only if your April GR rating is between 1 to 50)

Meireles
What a thunderbolt! It brought back memories of Ryan Giggs beating David Seagate after a long run up the pitch in 99.

Debt Education for the uninformed
To most people the "national debt" is unfathomable. They need to be educated. The debt is actually millions of individual pieces of paper of various denominations called Treasury Bonds. Who buys and sells Treasury Bonds (the national debt) is quite revealing.

Since last March the United States sold over $1 Trillion in new Treasury Bonds.
Who bought those bonds?
Individual Americans dumped Treasury Bonds over the last year.
Americans don't even invest in their own government's debt!
Individual states and municipalities also became net disinvestors by selling more bonds than they bought.
Foreigners, individuals/companies/institutions/governments, purchased less than $300 Billion dollars of American debt.
Pensions funds and mutal funds purchased less than $200 billion of those bonds, and many of those purchases simply reflected a switch from European sovereign debt to American.
The Federal Reserve purchased over half of all the new debt issued last year.
In other words we already don't have a liquid market for half of our annual national deficit.
We not only are running a $1 Trillion dollar annual deficit under O-dumba we can even find a market for half of that 1 Trillion.

You better get your ducks in a row children and start reading about how Americans survived between 1969 and 1982 during the Stagflation decade because it is on its way back in spades because of the policies of the last six years under Bernanke, Pelosi/Reid, and O-dumba.

This is what happens when people quit buying Treasury Bonds of a country.
Spain has become the latest point of concern in Europe’s debt crisis as investors are concerned over the ability of the government to push through its big austerity program at a time when its economy is heading for a return to recession and unemployment is standing at around 23 percent. The yield on the country’s 10-year bond pushed up to 5.74 percent, a sign that investors are wary of Spain’s ability to avoid suffering the same bailout fate as Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

The eurozone crisis remains unresolved and Spain remains in the spotlight with bond yields moving higher after yesterday’s disappointing bond auction.

Spain sold 2.6 billion euros of 2015, 2016 and 2020 bonds - at the low end of its target range - and the average yield rose on all three.

"It was only a lukewarm auction," DZ Bank rate strategist Michael Leister said. "The key thing here is the volume, they fell well short of the maximum range they intended to sell."

"This shows that the LTRO (ECB's long-term refinancing operation) effect is losing momentum and that Spain is having a much more difficult time."

The ECB injection of 1 trillion euros in cheap 3-year funds has helped depress borrowing costs for struggling euro zone governments since December, easing concern over the debt crisis.

But with no further injections on the cards and in the face of problems with high debt and chronically low growth, yields on Italian and Spanish government debt have crept higher.
