Zero centers, but you get part of the draw??
In game ID=66470, Austria and Turkey agreed to defeat France and split a two-way WTA draw. Well , we took over France and pressed "draw". POOF, game over, but FRANCE gets 1/3 of the draw.

Huh? How can you get part of the draw with zero centers????

Because if you still have a unit alive when they vote for the draw, you share in the draw. Don't vote for the draw until after the build phase and the units are destroyed.

That's NOT explained in the rules:

"(In a draw a surviving player with 15 supply-centers will get the same number of points as a surviving player with only one!) "

It doesn't say "with NO supply-centers". The build phase is only a technical phase. He has NO centers. You don't have to wait for the build phase to win with 18 centers. If there are little technicalities that have to be followed due to FLAWS in the programming, well then they should be EXPLICITLY laid out in the rules. We shouldn't have to learn them through experience, don't you agree??!!!

It's always a good idea to wait until the same is striked before pressing "draw"

Actually idiot, if you were playing in person and you all submitted a draw order during the build phase the person with "0" centers would still get a part of the draw. The problem is in your understanding of the rules, if you weren't sure you always could have asked, or waited till the word DEFEATED appeared next to the persons name.
dear god Draugnar you have a temper

@SC, Draugnar is a programmer, as am I, and I imagine he was reacting to much the same thing as myself. The outright and very rude accusation of the program being the one at fault and not the user unclear on how the program works.

Clearly this is an ID10T or PEBKAC error, not a program error.

The build/disband "phase" is the last step in the fall turn. Wait to draw when the turn is over and you are fine. Be upset if you didn't understand it works that way, fine. But come on here all ungrateful and pissed off and place the entirety of the blame on the software, for which the user is paying absolutely nothing? Fuck him!

The OP's frustration and confusion is understanable. Some people need to chill out. I am sure he meant no insult to Kestas.
Levelhead, this is not listed in the site rules because it is really meant to be an official rule. It is more akin to a glitch in the system. The site is awesome but there are a few minor bugs and you have found one of them.
spyman (424 D(G))
10 Oct 11 UTC
... after reading Alderian's post, I am not so sure now. The official rules don't seem to be completely clear on this topic. What happens in face-to-face tournament competition?
spyman (424 D(G))

If anyone is interested, this is what the rules say (it is a bit ambiguous):

Regarding winning it says:
After a Fall Turn, if one Great Power controls 18 or more supply centers, the game ends and that player is declared the winner".

And given the *Gain and losing units phase* is the fifth phase of Fall, then it would appear that it ain't over until Fall is finished.

But regarding draws it says:
"players can end the game by agreement before a winner is determined. In this case, all players who still have pieces on the game board share equally in a draw."

I think perhaps that the fall phase (including builds) must be completely finished before any resolution, whether a winner is declared or a draw is agreed. Otherwise players could declare a draw if a player temporarily had zero units on the board due to a forced disband in the retreat phase, but still had one or more SCs remaining. As this would be absurd, I think Alderian is right.

You arrogant impolite losers who resort to profanity when criticized are simply cowards hiding behind your anonimity. I simply want this other wise excellent and very enjoyable site to be that much better. Why some on this site want to behave so unbelievably and unacceptably awful is a mystery to me and does really devalue the site as a whole. You sincerely should be ashamed.

I still maintain that there is a flaw in the programming in the form of an omission. I will write directly to the programmer, since this forum appears to be largely dedicated to chaotic yelling and meaningless insults.

Levelhead - discussions about improvements to the site usually happen in the developers forum.
http://forum.webdiplomacy.net/
You might find this subject or one very similar has been raised before. The site is a work in progress and Kestas often makes improvements, but he does this for free in his spare time. So not everything that everyone would like gets added at each upgrade. It's a matter of priorities.
I think you're right that it is silly that someone with zero SCs shares in a draw, but the fall turn wasn't actually over. But yes sometimes it seems silly to play the whole phase out, when the game is effectively over.
Another glitch which is similar is that the game automatically ends when a player takes 18 SCs, and it ends before the retreats phase, even though a retreating unit could potentially thwart the victory. (I think that is right - unless this has been fixed?)

Lol, you just should have waited till there was "defeated" behind France's name...
"In this case, all players who still have pieces on the game board share equally in a draw."

France had a piece on the board. He had an army, therefore he gets a share of the draw. This is part of the rules of the actual boardgame, and will not be changed. (Unless kestas wants to make the website a little more different from the boardgame)

You will notice a player is eliminated the moment (s)he no longer has any fleets, armies or supply centres. This player had not yet been eliminated, and so received a share of the draw.

"Another glitch which is similar is that the game automatically ends when a player takes 18 SCs, and it ends before the retreats phase, even though a retreating unit could potentially thwart the victory." - Yes, this is a glitch that has not yet been fixed.

France did have a unit on the board. I guess that really is all that needs to be said. You live and learn.

"You arrogant impolite losers who resort to profanity when criticized are simply cowards hiding behind your anonimity. I simply want this other wise excellent and very enjoyable site to be that much better. "

First, it isn't a bug. The rules state as long as a user has a unit they partake in the draw. you are the asswipe fucktard tool who insisted it was a bug in the software. Fuck you very much.

Second, I'm no coward hiding behind anonymity. My name has been posted several times in the past along with where I live. I don't hide. If you had been here more than a month and a half, you would know who I am by name. I'm Robert Bolin of Fairfield, OH. Formerly robert Bolin of Hebron, KY. And I own Draugnar.com and a simple google search of Draugnar would have shown I am not anonymous just because I use a nickname I've used on the web since it's inception. Again, fuck you very much.

Hey everyone,
So I opened a new game and named it after a diplomat who -at an intellectual level- appeals to me (not passing any judgments on the man's politics, it's his way of arriving at a conclusion that I like)

Conspiracy theory.
Well, im paranoid, and im wondering what we do if the mods are multi accounting. And we all know they have multiple accounts to aid in spying, investigating, and all the other mod business that is in the grey area. We cant report it to the mods, but we can find out those accounts and not let them use them for such. And im just talking hypothetical here, not making any real accusations (for those of you fond of clue, im not to the point of making an accusation yet) ;)

Hey guys, thought I'd create a thread for anyone to offer their thoughts.
For my part, I think my play as France highlights the importance of sticking with a game even if things look really tough - I was fighting off 3 countries for the first half of the game but still came out on top. To get such a stiff competition situation was great fun! Thanks for the interesting game all and I look forward to no. 13.
