I counter propose that we lock him in a room until he learns enough PHP to integrate his rating system with the site. Re-authoring phpDiplomacy using say Google Apps would be an acceptable alternative.

I think TGM has enough in his hands already, but if he thinks he can handle it, he certainly deserves it and is qualified.

I'm sure the mods/kestas can figure this all out on their own. No need to set anyone up.

I'm not too fond of forum petitions on how to run the site. They tend to be rather awkward. In particular, the Ghost-rating/points petition.

I am opposed to TGM being promoted to Moderator. He has been nothing but trouble here since he joined. His so-called ratings scheme is a farce aimed at inflating his own skill because he doesn't have enough Dip points. His forum posts are vitriolic and spiteful and frequently downright rude. As a current moderator I must jealously guard my power against all intruders.

Also, I'm told he only bathes twice a year and that he once lost a beauty pagent to a gibbon.

I have no issue with TGM as a mod as long as he can do both that and all the other stuff he does without having extra stress. Lets face it, he already does a ton for this site for free... don't want him to burn out :D

This has been a long time coming. I'm not sure if a petition will do anything, because this is no democracy, but I know that if Kestas asked me who should be made a mod I would say TheGhostmaker.

It would be even more work for someone who already has his plate full, but I have faith that he will sacrifice his school work, his friends and social group, and his numerous girlfriends to work here at phpDip for nothing more than the occasional kudos, thanks, and TheGhostmaker + 1.

Im happy to join in on the TGM love-fest :-) He is (or definitely was) a bit overly zealous regarding his rating system, but his tourneys have been great and (most importantly for me) he is a lot of help vetting ideas and suggesting them on forum.phpdiplomacy.net .
I think he'd make a great coder too, based on discussions we've had there

That having been said the current mod team is doing a great job, and we don't (currently) need any more. People speak about promotion but that's not really what the mod role is about, it's just a functional role. If we promoted all the senior members who have had a big +ve impact we'd have too many mods, all stepping on each others toes

Also as others have said if you think someone would make good mod material we'll have noticed them too, you don't have to worry about us not recognizing and appreciating the seniors/contributors

I support this petition. Though unfortunately I think Kestas doesn't know or trust Ghostmaker as well as dangermouse and co., which I think he knows in real life.

i dont think kestas knows the mods outside of the online world, could be wrong but kestas lives in Australia, dangermous is American, figles English and crisp is Canadian.
