Ban moron?
I'd like to formally request that diplomat1824 be stripped of his forum posting capabilities. Despite not having multi-accounted or metagamed, he has continued to post absurd amounts of irritating topics even after being warned not too, including a ridiculous request to ban Edi and a topic informing us that he only stopped posting inane topics because he was warned (though he hasn't stopped.)

Another request for a slight logic change
I've seen this request several times by many different members, I just figured I'd add mine to the list.

If a power has 0 SCs, and no option to retreat after a Fall phase, they should just be automatically killed off. I'm currently waiting in 2 games for a 0SC power with no retreats possible to log in to make their retreat, then I'll have to wait another 24 hours for a disband phase, that logically speaking, should be automatic if there are no SCs left.

This point has been brought up on the development forum - do check there before making suggestions! Yes of course I agree this should be done, and there are more complex 'rules' that allow for more units to be destroyed than just those that have *no* retreats. Still, it is a good point.

Consider this me being a sqeaky wheel then. In software, it's sometimes difficult to prioritize feature requests. So this is me just being another user voicing my request in order to "up" the priority.

as far as the more complex rules, I agree. There are times when someone gets their last SC taken but can retreat to another SC and stay in the game. However, it's logically deterministic (and therefore programmable) when there isn't a retreat to go to, then there is no hope for that power to survive the unit placement. If there is a retreat, even if it's a non-SC, then the move should still be allowed due to the possibility that 2 retreats to the same territory will destroy both units. but again, it's deterministic.

and after the retreat phase, if the power isn't sitting on an SC and he's got 0 SCs, there's no reason to make him log in just to manually say "Destroy my last unit(s) at ___ "

Beyond that, any unit that can't retreat (must be destroyed) should automatically be destroyed even if the player is still in the game. That way you don't have to wait for the disgruntled player onthe retreat phase to issue a stupid destroy order that they have no choice in anyways. If it has no retreats, the destroy ourder is automatic. If the player has no other options, the destroy order(s) is/are automatically finalized with no unfinalize available.

Yes, that is true.
The most complex situations are when a player has 0 SCs. Then retreats can be ignored and auto-destroyed if:
-> None of their units can retreat onto an SC
-> The unit in question can retreat to the same place as a retreating unit from another nation (this could cause a bounce and thus force the other player to disband)

well your second situation is still an allowable event. I would exclude that from the autodestroy. That would end up giving an advantage to the player who could now retreat to that spot, that the rules of the game don't allow for.

I'd only be in favor of automating things that don't affect the rules of the game.

If they have a place to retreat to, even if it might bounce on another retreat (there's no guarantee as the other player may choose to destroy so as to get a build in a better location), then they have to have that option to try. The only time automatic orders should happen is if that is the only option available (no retreats, destroy the unit.)

What is Metagaming?
So what is metagaming? What is the right course of action if you're pretty sure that other players either have a relationship outside of the game that they are using to their advantage in the game or if they've met in other games (and are playing a number together simultaneously) and similarly working together against everyone else? It's certainly lousy to be the victim of this in a game.

Here I am in Munich, attempting to support Berlin to Kiel. I have support from Bohemia, and I'm attacked (without support) from Burgundy. Why doesn't my move go through? Does any attack negate support moves, even if the supporting army has support?

The political topics debated here tend to be quite left-wing. I guess radical political views tend to be over represented on the internet generally, but I thought a game based on realpolitik would attract more political moderates and centre-right wingers.

This has probably been brought up before, but - for people who have trouble seeing computer images like myself, is there a way to have bold, contrasting primary colors instead of the subdued mappy ones that make it hard to tell the difference?
