dots?
Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but what does the dot next to a country's name mean?

Who else hates Mapleleaf?
He is constantly more interested in personally and illogically debasing other players, calling them cheats if they play 2 or more games with the same person(even if they have played more than 20 in total- meaning less than 10% of games played).
He is an OLD man who needs to get a life and stop playing or should it be, trolling game sites?
He is an arrogant lonely desparate old man who even though has been proven false in his accusations, continues to make them...
Perhaps he should be banned?

Nominate PhpDiplomacy!
I propose, to show our support for Kestas and all the hard work he has put into this site, all phpDiplomacy members to nominate phpDiplomacy for the "Best project for Gamers" on SourceForge.net. Hopefully this is one way we can repay Kestas for everything he has done.

Suspicious Behavior
OvjV and peta have been entering the same games and always seem to end 18-16 in OvjV's favor. Now I have not played with them in any game but just looking at their profiles seems fishy. If anyone would like to combat me on these ideas, those that have played with them I mean, your more then welcome to.

Can I get 7 players for a 4123 PPCS game?
That puts the cost at 589 for each of us meaning that we would set a new record for the highest point game. If enough people are willing to go even higher or a bit lower please post how high you would take it.
Thanks :)

POSSILBE BUG
This is my first game. I had four units to build and only 3 supplycenters to build them on. I assigned 3 of the four builds but it would not let me hit update. so I assigned the fourth one as well. THe result was neither army was built on that supply center. Any ideas? Did I miss something?

Underground Press?
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=3950

In a no press game, for the second time, an Austrian unit has supported a Turkish attack on me. Is this extremely unusual? Or is it common for players to take a chance at supporting the moves of another. I'm hesitant to use the word cheating, but could someone shed some light on this?
flashman (2274 D(G))
07 Jun 08 UTC
In my no press games - and as Austria, there has been a lot of supporting. Indeed, it is the only way for Austria to survive. By playing with experienced players (at no press) it has proved relatively easy to get some clever looking moves going.

They also go badly wrong at times, but that is the special fun of no press.
dangermouse (5551 D)

You often get supports for moves that don't actually occur in no press games. But you also get moves that look well planned. Like flash says, it happens when people know how to play.
Stevelers (3084 D(G))

In the same no press game that Flashman is in, I supported a French army to Belgium early in the game, to keep England out. However, the same French army I was supporting tried to support my German army there! The result was, both France's army and my army simply stayed put, while England was able to walk right in! So, yes, I suppose support holds do happen in No press games, although, it doesn't work out how you want sometimes!

LOL! That same French player just posted above me, related to the same move, I think, at the same time!
dangermouse (5551 D)

Though looking at your game I'm not really sure WHY austria would have supported that move. He's just asking for Turkey to eliminate him as well.

Glad you posted - I was wondering about that move too.
Shisuren (587 D)

Ok, now look.. There's nothing 'odd' or 'underground' about any of my moves. This is the second time I've been stuck with Austria in a no-press game. Russia and Italy were the ones that tried to initially pinch me in the first place - once I'm down to only one unit, I'm pretty much thoroughly useless. Last time, Turkey took me out within.. I might be generous to say three years :P

Russia was shoved up because Turkey; the only thing keeping Italy from taking me was Turkey. I've only got one unit and tend to return favors (even when they're entirely selfish - AKA, Turkey expanding), and there wasn't really a particularly good reason to not use my unit as a support. If Germany had come down, there'd been a fair chance I'd have supported either him or Italy against each other, especially in that last move. And I realized that supporting Turkey into that particular spot would end up being the death of my hide - but there gets to be a point where it's kinda pointless only having one unit with no chance at expansion :P

Do supports show up on the map even if they fail? If so, they are a very valid form of "sign language" indicating your support. An easy example is Germany supporting Russia into Sweden to indicate their support for Russia.
Shisuren (587 D)

Supports will show on the large map.

In play by email (and on dipbounced), players use convoys, usually to Switzerland, to express a desire to ally, as invalid convoys get printed in the judging, but invalid supports don't.

I cheat in intensive-press games by not communicating with other players at all.

Anyone tried finalising-unfinalising-finalising-unfinalising-etc as a way of signalling the desire for an alliance?

i find that failed supports are good means to call attention to your willingness to repeat the same support next turn. the downside being that you cant organise anything tricky and your opponent can also see that failed support!
flashman (2274 D(G))

Hence with experienced players you can mislead them...

Unless they are very experienced, in which case they will realise that your are misleading them...

Must agree - supports are THE way to signal intent.

Can someone tell me the point of a no-press game if the players are simply going to communicate in the forum?

I just realized you probably haven't drawn this game because the title wasn't very descriptive. The other two players have agreed to a draw in the post "Banded Struggle 2"

Obvious Duplicate account
So I just joined a game with a player named Mapleleafisacnt. I refuse to believe this is a new player, especially with that Who else hates Mapleleaf thread just below.

Kestas - please take a look at this and boot the account if it seems appropriate.

Worst possible openings
Just for the lulz, what do you think are the worst possible openings for each country? I would love to watch a game played out with terrible moves from the start just to see how players might try to recover from it.

Barack Obama speaks here tonight.

2 1/2 hours to go and the line is 11 blocks long. Is it worth going to see a rock star? We probably won't get in, but still . . . is it worth it to just try?

Bug
Just a bug I've noticed and found rather irritating. I;m not sure if it's common knowledge or not, but when I try to follow a game using the arrows under the map, I often find that the actual units do not show up; only the colors of territories chance as I progress through the game.

Something Strange
Recently in a game I lost a few SC's in one turn and thus had to destroy some units. Thing is I realized it would let me finalize by telling the game to destroy the same unit multiple times. Now I'm not sure what will happen if I do finalize and the phase ends but I found the whole thing fairly odd. Can anyone shed some light on what would happen if I was to do this? Or perhaps does anyone know if this is some sort of glitch or flaw?

Noob question
I know that there are two game types, PPSC and WTA, but I can never figure out how to make my game WTA. Not that I necessarily want to, but I am never even given the option.

Is there a certain requirement for WTA games, of which I am not aware at the moment?

Thanks
