Who else hates Mapleleaf?
He is constantly more interested in personally and illogically debasing other players, calling them cheats if they play 2 or more games with the same person(even if they have played more than 20 in total- meaning less than 10% of games played).
He is an OLD man who needs to get a life and stop playing or should it be, trolling game sites?
He is an arrogant lonely desparate old man who even though has been proven false in his accusations, continues to make them...
Perhaps he should be banned?

Nominate PhpDiplomacy!
I propose, to show our support for Kestas and all the hard work he has put into this site, all phpDiplomacy members to nominate phpDiplomacy for the "Best project for Gamers" on SourceForge.net. Hopefully this is one way we can repay Kestas for everything he has done.

Suspicious Behavior
OvjV and peta have been entering the same games and always seem to end 18-16 in OvjV's favor. Now I have not played with them in any game but just looking at their profiles seems fishy. If anyone would like to combat me on these ideas, those that have played with them I mean, your more then welcome to.

Can I get 7 players for a 4123 PPCS game?
That puts the cost at 589 for each of us meaning that we would set a new record for the highest point game. If enough people are willing to go even higher or a bit lower please post how high you would take it.
Thanks :)

POSSILBE BUG
This is my first game. I had four units to build and only 3 supplycenters to build them on. I assigned 3 of the four builds but it would not let me hit update. so I assigned the fourth one as well. THe result was neither army was built on that supply center. Any ideas? Did I miss something?

Underground Press?
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=3950

In a no press game, for the second time, an Austrian unit has supported a Turkish attack on me. Is this extremely unusual? Or is it common for players to take a chance at supporting the moves of another. I'm hesitant to use the word cheating, but could someone shed some light on this?

I just realized you probably haven't drawn this game because the title wasn't very descriptive. The other two players have agreed to a draw in the post "Banded Struggle 2"

So I just joined a game with a player named Mapleleafisacnt. I refuse to believe this is a new player, especially with that Who else hates Mapleleaf thread just below.

Worst possible openings
Just for the lulz, what do you think are the worst possible openings for each country? I would love to watch a game played out with terrible moves from the start just to see how players might try to recover from it.

If you could be any other kind of animal, what kind would you be?
Personally I would go with a sloth. I might give you a reason or two later...

A ctenophore! They're my favorite phylum of marine invertebrates, the "comb jellies". Hence my screen name.
Polar Bear... but I would want water wings thrown into the bargain or the promise of a sanctuary reserve in Antarctica if we're going to go ahead with this.

humans = animals

Not sure how this has escaped thinking people.
Feckless Clod (777 D)

If we're not animals, then are we vegetables or minerals?
Well, I see two meanings of the word.
The first, the more general term being one of the six scientific groupings of life (Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista, Archaea, and Eubacteria).
The second could refer to the slightly more colloquial non-human, living, breathing organism.

So, when animal is used in a biological context, humans are included. When it is not used in a biological context, humans are generally not included.

I would like to give special thanks to Webster's for helping us clear this all up.
Labond (140 D)
06 Jun 08 UTC
I fear folk won't accept a simple philologic mending of this argument, which has been going on for quite a while (dare I mention Darwin vs. God c.1859).

For my part, I'd suggest that the characteristics that we distinguish as 'human', in opposition to 'animal' are generally unique to the human animal, but that being a human animal is by no means sufficient for their cultivation. Hence, a human is, to a great or lesser degree, human and, to a lesser or greater degree, an animal. However, this simple description cannot bring together the scientific facts needed to make a strong empirical case for this suggestion, and so it remains opinion only.

And I think that I'd like to be a bear... Walrus is close second.

There are more distinctions than animal/vegetable/mineral.

I argue that if humans are not animals, then we are either microbes or fungi.

what do you call those unintelligent animals which are not humans in english then?
alamothe (3367 D(B))

anyway if humans are included, i would love to be brittish!
"what do you call those unintelligent animals which are not humans in english then?"

Depends on the animal. I would call an eagle and eagle for instance.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

Alamothe, just for your information, British is spelt with just one "t" :)

As for "those unintelligent animals which are not humans" I would call them "beasts" although this does have modern connotations of powerfulness, strictly it does mean exactly that.
I'd be an airborne strain of Ebola.

klingon! i cant stand the klingons. how they invented warp drive by themselves i'll never know. they are very honorable and so forth but not the brightest chaps in the universe.

alamothe- animals are disrespectful? huh?? you mean they dont conform to homo sapien concept of respectfulness right? they have their own codes of conduct and respect individual to each species. dogs are very mindful of the pack and who is the pack leader.

im not a bird lover really but you cant go past the ability to fly as something that wouldnt be great.

whats the longest living most intelligent bird?
albatross? eagle?
Feckless Clod (777 D)
07 Jun 08 UTC
The longest living wild bird is very possibly the albatross.... it's not known for sure, since large seabirds can outlast the metal rings that researchers tag them with. The most intelligent bird is known to be Big Bird from Sesame Street. HTH.
Labond (140 D)
07 Jun 08 UTC
"whats the longest living most intelligent bird?"

Parrots are quite long lived and pretty bright.
Feckless Clod (777 D)
07 Jun 08 UTC
Parrots in captivity can live more than 50 years, but I understand that some sea-birds outlive most humans. Some parrots have proved to be surprisingly intelligent, but there's not much basis for comparison.... being captive animals, parrots have simply been subjected to more research than wild birds. There is evidence that cormorants can count to eight, at least.... and then there was that seagull who learned to shoplift.... though Sicarius and mapleleaf will probably have differing opinions on the level of intelligence thus demonstrated....

I'd be a raptor. =)

Either dinosaur or bird of prey works for me.

Bug
Just a bug I've noticed and found rather irritating. I;m not sure if it's common knowledge or not, but when I try to follow a game using the arrows under the map, I often find that the actual units do not show up; only the colors of territories chance as I progress through the game.

Something Strange
Recently in a game I lost a few SC's in one turn and thus had to destroy some units. Thing is I realized it would let me finalize by telling the game to destroy the same unit multiple times. Now I'm not sure what will happen if I do finalize and the phase ends but I found the whole thing fairly odd. Can anyone shed some light on what would happen if I was to do this? Or perhaps does anyone know if this is some sort of glitch or flaw?

Noob question
I know that there are two game types, PPSC and WTA, but I can never figure out how to make my game WTA. Not that I necessarily want to, but I am never even given the option.

Is there a certain requirement for WTA games, of which I am not aware at the moment?

Thanks
