Kestas: Can you stop a game for us? WWI (Mark 2)
Turkey, Germany and Austria have obviously lost and are willing to surrender so as to free everyone from aving to make further moves.

The English, French and Russians are willing to forgo the pleasure of wiping us off the map and will take the early win.

I am not sure how this is done, but we would be greatful if you could arrange this.

Thanks...

No Retreats possible
Hello,

Currently in the private game The Big Show, there haven't been any retreats possible in the last couple turns - people have been forced to disband. At first I thought it was because there had been standoffs in the possible territories to retreat to during the preceding turns, but now I have this situation: My italian fleet was kicked out of bulgaria last turn, and should be able to go to either greece or the aegean sea, neither of which were contested. Is there something I'm not getting?

Dear Kestas...
Sorry to bother you, but we have requested a draw for the game:

Sephiroth...!!! (Game ID 2497)

and both parties have replied to the original post in this Forum to show agreement. It is possible you haven't seen it because I did not put your name in the title. I apologise.

There is a thread for this game which contains the agreements.

Thanks for your atention.

My suggestion
There has been a sudden rash of draws.
I propose, that to rid Kestas of the hassle of manually having to draw each game, instead to award every single person who is still present during the draw points equivalent to half their initial bet.

I have just been eliminated from a no-press game...
The first I have tried, and I started with a wrong order... Really a bit annoyed with myself about it. However, the game itself was a refreshing change and I would very much like to start/play another one.

Anyone up for a game?

Meta-gamers....
In http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2754
I found that a 3 man band appearing in another game reappeared....and apparently, they are close friends that makes moves a one or even a meta gamer.......in the game, france had deliberately left portugal untaken, and if u check the logs, there is no conflict.....

I have played these guys (yeunghauyip, wing09, roger1994...) before and the same happened, they play with a game-long alliance, and even when empty scs are around, they never invade into each other's country

even worse, yeunghauyip claimed to me in the opening of the other game that they "know" each other well and he even has the password for wing09's account........

plz, either ban them, or would they come up and deny the charges.....
admins plz keep an eye on them.....

anyone interested in a new game?
anyone interested in a team game?
i notice the rules have alternative ways to play for less players(or in this case fixed teams)
4 teams
1.eng
2. austria/france
3.germany/turkey
4.italy/russia

OR

3 teams-
1.eng/ger/aust
2.russia/italy
3. france/turkey

3 or 4 which is better?
honour rules- no backstabing your ally. goes on till one teams wipes the other two out. then can end in a draw.
would this work? anyone want to give it a try?
figlesquidge (2131 D)

Well, in the first option, surely England would be crushed, especially with the problems convoying.
The 3 team game would be very interesting and probably quite feasible as well...

DMZ Rule. Please follow it.
Silesia is DMZ. BLA is DMZ.
sean (3490 D(B))
29 Jan 08 UTC
why the dmz? do they make the game more balanced? well im russia in the first team game and im SCARED!
Silesia DMZ protects an assault on Russia by Germany. He is safe in the West simply by using one army to hold off France. Austria can lend an army and Russia would be screwed. Germany still gets his traditional centers because England is on his team. So that would be unfair. BLA DMZ helps protect Russia again, by a possible three way on him. Galicia is not DMZ because Austria already has 2 other ppl on his team. He doesn't need help. ENG DMZ would help England too much, and Pie DMZ would be useless. So yes, the DMZs help balance out the 3 man team.
thewonderllama (100 D)
29 Jan 08 UTC
I don't think the dmzs are neccessary for balance. Germany and Austria ganging up on Russia leave themselves exposed to France and Italy and Turkey.

i think Ger/aust/eng are stronger. oh i guess we should have discussed this before but can we contact the other teams for things? or do we have a no press between teams thing going on?
thewonderllama (100 D)
30 Jan 08 UTC
I wondered about that myself. Didn't know what everyone else was doing so didn't contact anyone but my partner. What do the rest of you think?
sean (3490 D(B))
30 Jan 08 UTC
i think its ok. i mean no one wins until one team has wiped out the other teams so it can only be short term deals to stop the winning team. could make for a pretty impressive stab as well
figlesquidge (2131 D)
30 Jan 08 UTC
I think we can, but I don't really think it will happen as there are already alliances. Not sure, but thats what I expect will happen.
That makes one of us from each alliance in our game, lets allow it then!
Should we set a certain player as the negotiator for the team, or can all talk then?
sean (3490 D(B))
30 Jan 08 UTC
think all all talk is ok. timing problems if its just the one guy might be an issue. im guessing itll just be short term quid pro quo stuff mainly.
and scare scenario shakedowns;)

Phantom army
Hello, Kestas. Great piece of work.

One question. I had the following move reported in game THIRTY TWO:

"Spring 1903, Diplomacy: Your army at Kiel attempted to move into Ruhr but there was a stalemate."

Problem is that there was no-one who could move into Ruhr to create a stale mate. Any idea how this happened?

Thanks in advance.

Does St. Petersburg have coasts, as in the real game?
When russia places a unit in St petersburg, does it have to decide which coast to build on? Or is the decision of which coast its on made when Russia sends it one way or the other?
Say it moves into barrents sea, can it then move back thru the russian mainland into GoB?

How can you tell which coast its on if there is a difference?

Drawn Games and The Pot...
I thought that the pot was divided evenly between surviving players (ignoring decimals)...

I though seem to have been awarded just about the full pot for the game Crazy9s... Very generous.

I am concerned on two counts:

a) I didn't earn all those points,
b) have my fellow players lost out?
