On a recent TV quiz show ( The Chase UK ) there was a question, What political philosophy did Karl Marx theorise ? The choices were: 1 Nationalism 2 Socialism 3 Fascism.
The cynical side of me thought "a form of fascism in Stalin's interpretation", but clearly with that choice, the answer is 2 Socialism. The contestant picked Nationalism ( and only needed to get it right to be " home safely " & she'd earlier upped from £8,000 to £25,000 or thereabouts & moved a step closer to the chaser ) The Chaser chose Socialism & got it right & eliminated her. The host added a comment.. Karl Marx and Engels published the work in 18xx that founded Communism.
I had to laugh. Chasing all that dosh, one last correct answer needed to get back to the team & lost in an innacurate set of choices about the author of Das Capital. And then the host mentioned the correct answer that was not an actual choice.
