It's easier to get a gun, than ….
http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/16/health/getting-gun-ease-trnd/index.html

In the wake of the last two mass shootings, I didn't know that I would have a harder time buying a puppy than a gun. There are even more restrictions to join Diplomacy.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

Way to ignore the facts that the Texas shooter should have been prevented from buying a gun with the current restrictions in place.

You know, facts and stuff.

Would he have been able to play Diplomacy?

Whether or not I agree with Kansas, the more he says “facts and stuff” the more I want to make him the first player I’ve ever muted.
Kansas, I don't see how that's relevant to the fact the OP stated. In general, it is easier for someone to buy a gun than a puppy. That's pretty much a fact
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
07 Nov 17 UTC
It’s not a fact though.

I had friends a couple weeks ago whose dog had puppies. They were begging us to take a puppy.

That would have been a heck of a lot easier than going to Canelas and buying a gun.

You know, facts and stuff.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
07 Nov 17 UTC
No surprise a liberal wants to mute facts counter to their brainwashing.
TrPrado (461 D)
07 Nov 17 UTC
Me?
Again, I'm not a liberal.

Second, a friend could sell you a gun just as easily if you want to give a good faith comparison.

Go to a pet store vs go to a Canelas. That's the comparison you gotta do.
StevenC. (1047 D(B))
07 Nov 17 UTC
Canelas? You mean Cabela's?
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
07 Nov 17 UTC
Yes Cabelas. Sorry. Typing on a phone.

You should have a hard time buying a puppy. It's a pretty major commitment, from a financial, animal welfare, and public safety point of view.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
07 Nov 17 UTC
That article is a joke.

It’s an editorial with no documentation of sources or providing any actual facts and uses phrases like “in some cases” to make gross generalizations.

Care to cite them?
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

I provide and document facts all the time.

Just pay attention.

So therefore that makes your comparison false and incorrect.

Yet another fact.
TrPrado (461 D)
07 Nov 17 UTC
(+4)
He says without citation.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
07 Nov 17 UTC
Actually my citation was that I provide facts and documentation all the time.

Just because you are too lazy to see them doesn’t mean they don’t excuse.
TrPrado (461 D)
07 Nov 17 UTC

That’s a claim. Claims are supposed to be backed up by citations of documents.

In a world where you can get illicit drugs and any other illegal thing you want what makes anyone think that these laws would make a difference anyway? Besides the laws that exist are not enforced. that is why there is an illegal immigration problem.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

I’ve told you to look around.

And our resident leftists quoted such reliable statistics as; "Most" or "Generally" - which are naturally beyond reproach.

Shame on those evil conservatives for not knowing the things that "Everyone Knows".
TrPrado (461 D)
08 Nov 17 UTC
The shame on Kansas is pretty exclusively because of how he carries himself as the defender of all fact. He’s the conservative variant of the pompous elitist liberal stereotype.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
09 Nov 17 UTC
Well if he's the pompous elitist Conservative stereotype, or not, he appears to fervently believe that must know more about gun control laws than anyone who dares to disagree with him,
What-if there was a successful Conservative politician who was a National leader for a decade..like that John Howard chappy, who.implemented National gun law reforms in Australia and two decades later they are demonstrably very effective ... ( facts not KB's stuff ) Would that example of a Conservative National leader implementing gun control laws that work well sort of knock into a cocked hat the proposition that "gun control laws don't work" ? An example that has a unique irritation in that Menzies and Howard are regarded as the greatest two Conservative Prime Ministers of Australia.
KB is certainly gaining a singular reputation here at WebDiplomacy
CAPT Brad (40 DX)
10 Nov 17 UTC
the pompous elitist liberal is not a stereotype, it's a ubiquitous description of people telling you what to do who don't do it themselves. Like members of the California state (democrat controlled) legislature. They drive taxpayer funded gas guzzling SUV's and sexually harass their staff and lobbyists .

Remove the no orders/saved/ready icons
There are 10 minutes to go and still !! is shown next to a country. It's probably going to NMR. This allows countries around it to make moves that they normally wouldn't confident that the sensible supports and moves to SCs won't take place. Which unbalances the game.

If the icons were removed then it is less obvious that an NMR is about to happen. Is there a reason for the icons that I'm missing?

CD vs NMR
I'm looking at my CD's and NMR's, and I noticed that in one game that I had a Civil Disorder, it gave me 12 NMR's, another CD 3 NMR's, and then the rest of my CD's I have 0 NMR's. Can anyone explain how this works and why there's such a huge discrepancy on this? And is this also a "double jeopardy" against my Reliability Rating to count NMR's and CD's from the same game? This part has always confused me. Thanks!

New Zealand has a new Prime Minister
Labour did a full coalition deal with our weird centrist version of UKIP, so that'll be interesting. Greens to make up the numbers with confidence and supply in exchange for policy concessions and ministers outside of cabinet. I for one am cautiously optimistic about the coalition of chaos.

Refugees.. Does Uganda treat refugees better than many wealthy Nations ?
More refugees from South Sudan entered Uganda in the last 12 months than entered Europe. Uganda allows them to enter, to work, gives many a small plot of land to farm. To appease locals in regional areas where refugees settle the Government allocates 30% of aid to local communities. My own Nation, Australia, a relatively wealthy nation treats some refugees well, but others with harsh treatment, incarceration in detention camps.
