The difference here is that a Republican will still take your vote no matter how little you agree with their policies. You could be a communist and if you voted for the Republicans, they would shake your hand and thank you. They'll do just about anything for your vote, as will the Democrats. Feminists don't need a headcount - they don't need you, they don't want you, and they're not going to knock on your door and call you every election cycle to make sure you vote for them. They *expect* your support because being an anti-feminist is basically supporting the same kind of inequality that the GOP stands for, but if they don't have it, they're not going to come to you looking for it. That's where this analogy doesn't work. You can still be a Republican no matter how far away from their policies you stand as long as you vote for them in the primaries and general elections, but you can't just say you're a feminist if you beat your wife or cat call women on the streets.

As for this specific debate - if you don't support choice, you can still be a feminist. It's possible. You can still believe in the ideals of feminism and in equality for women. That's all moderate feminists want (unfortunately, most movements are represented by the extremes, not the moderates, which is where these misconceptions of feminism come from). They don't want to take over the world, and they don't want to try to be better than men, they want the same opportunities as men get under the rule of discriminatory coalitions like the GOP - which is to say that they want to eliminate discrimination based on sex. If you support that ideal but you still have your reservations about abortion, I don't think they would give you any problems. However, when the feminism movement inevitably produces equality under the law and eventually equality in social settings in the future, the history books that write about the movement won't include you if you don't support a woman's right to choose.
