Japan killed 2,500 and injured 1,000 more with that attack. They declared war on us. We responded. The effects of the Enola Gay's flight devastate lives even to this day but I have one thing to say. When Japan waged war on us almost 100% of the population was onboard, they had conquests in China that were very successful against their enemies of old and their national pride was immense. Their Emperor Showa gave the call and as the Japanese men in those planes screamed "Tora tora tora" they believed they could conquer the world I'm sure. The USA decided to send ships with even more troops overseas and let them fight and die for the cause but after Hitler fell, they were losing the war and they knew it, several officers even committed ritual suicide, but they told their citizens that the American's were savages, raping women and to run away from them. Thousands killed themselves when they heard the American troops were nearby the entire war was devastating to both sides. They are nearly defeated, 4 years after pearl harbor and THEN, and only then we decide to drop two atomic bombs on them.
It was no fucking military strategy it was the USA pissing on the weak. If we hadn't dropped the atomic bomb then Japan would have surrendered none the less, a few weeks later but they would have given in.
Hitler created the third reich with single-minded determination on conquering Europe, becoming a world power and they did so with camps. Dozens of brutal inhumane camps. But it was the USA who killed a quarter of a million people in two separate seconds, and countless more in the next 69 years. We became the superpower, the one's who had proven they could destroy any nation whom they pleased.
The USSR were no saints but their rivalry with the Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis led to an understanding that no one could use the Atomic Bombs. The memory of what we did must still live with us and we must realize we were in the wrong. That whole damn war did a lot of things to the world. Many in the states today call France cowards... but to see another World War upon them after the last had all but wiped out there last generation of young men! England was strong, England endured and the Polish rode out on horseback against tanks all because they knew that their honor depended on it. The war turned many into machines, Germany, the USSR and the American government was one of them. Our parents always told us "retaliating is as bad as what your brother did "or some sort, but when it comes to holding our government up to the same standards society did nothing. Truman said that the Japanese had started the war with pearl harbor and now had been repaid several fold. That War was truly awful
@TrPrado he may of meant at that time in history, at that time the overwhelming majority supported it
