The Great Filter

In short the great filter theory suggests that we have not encountered intelligent life yet because there is a "great filter" that prevents planetary life from reaching advanced intelligence necessary for galactic expansion.

Allies vs Axis Yes or No and a new map
basically WW2 map with teams Free France GB Russia USA vs Germany Italy Japan Vichy France. If a teammate gets taken over your team can liberate your teammates territory which would bring him back but its only the territories he started out with. you can also move through your teammates territories and help defend them if a team dominates the map it would asked them to continue if all 4 players say yes this reverts back to the old diplomacy game type as a free for all.

Banned by a moderator: moron
I'm glad that the mods banned 'Peyton is back,' userID=63701, for his annoying spamming, but I dislike the fact that they cited such a childish-sounding reason. 'Banned by a moderator: spamming' would be a much more appropriate and 'adult' reason. I guess I'm just disappointed that the moderators would demean themselves and their reputation by acting so deplorably.

Why do we tolerate people within our society like obiwan?
I sometimes agree with these kind of people, that if we locked them all in a prison and killed them, we could free the world of ignorance and hatred within a week. Maybe the last war of man will be between the progressives and the ones holding us back.

Hamas Rejects ANOTHER Ceasefire
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4549051,00.html "Speaking in Qatar, political chief Khaled Mashal demands Israel lift blockade, says Gaza-based group will never agree to disarm." I post another thread to specifically call attention to this...once AGAIN Hamas rejects a ceasefire. Demands met or no...surely if they're a people of peace they should allow for a ceasefire, right? But they've rejected it...again...but this is really Israel perpetuating the war. NEVER Hamas.

People being killed is never good. But what is awful about this, in particular? Wearing a disguise to increase your chances of surprising your enemy is a tactic that has been used in many wars. Ironically, the Israeli Defence Force has a history of using disguises in their operations in Lebabon.
Putin33 (111 D)

Hamas killed soldiers in time of war. This is much worse than your *defense of the slaughter of children by the IDF*. Only in Chaqa's deranged mind.
Jamiet99uk (865 D)

In one operation in 1973 in Beirut, Ehud Barak, who went on to become Prime Minister of Israel, dressed up as a woman in order to sneak up on a member of the PLO he had been sent to assassinate.

Israel can have no complaint if such tactics are now being used against them.

I'm just showing that this conflict isn't strictly "evil" Israel versus "saintly" Palestine/Gaza. Hamas using Israeli uniforms against soldiers means it's completely possible they've used them against civilians to cause Israel to look bad.

Frankly, people who cry "false flag" are simply admitting that the group they support is doing shit that is so terrible they don't want to own up to it. Let's face is, over 80% of the Israelis killed in this fight have been military folks and proper targets. The corresponding ratio is something like 10% with massive slaughter of civilians. Is it any wonder that the world is outraged?

"In other news, the UN's main human rights spokesperson has accused Israel of war crimes."

Yeah, and it hasn't said boo about Hamas at all, right?

Oh, and there's the curious case of Hamas firing at ISraelis from...

Wafa Hospital.

Israeli shell lands in a hospital--uproar.

Hamas fires at Israelis FROM a hospital, putting civilians in danger?

Pfff...that's OK...Hamas is the plucky underdog here, they can do no wrong!
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
Last count I heard it was 25 Israeli soldiers and 2 Israeli civilians, with one of those civilians being killed by transporting supplies to Israeli soldiers. Contrast that to Israel who has killed over a hundred children alone.

The Israeli apologists are giving false equivalence a band name.

"Contrast that to Israel who has killed over a hundred children alone."

Which wouldn't happen if Hamas didn't tell families to stay put in the middle of a war zone...because really, what's more important--saving the lives of children, or defying Israel to get macho points from the other terrorist juntas operating in the region?

Clearly the latter--dead kids make GREAT Hamas PR, after all...
trip (696 D(B))
24 Jul 14 UTC
@ Putin: Well, Hamas views Israeli children as being guilty because in the future they will be members of the IDF, so I say we should view Palestinian children in the same light. So, those aren't dead kids, threir dead future terrorists.

"but one side clearly drafts all members into military service and the other doesn't? are you this dense?"

That doesn't justify killing kids! What kind of moral defense is that, "They may fight in the army someday, so let's kill them now, while they're still young and INNOCENT?"
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
(+1)
And that's not even getting into how Hamas recruits and exploits the Palestinian youth, which is arguably its own sort of drafting into service...
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
Really, how do you claim the moral high ground when one of your defenses is killing kids for what they may or may not do 18 years from now?

For someone who argued AGAINST collective punishing...does that not seem just the tad bit hypocritical? It's wrong to punish the Palestinians collectively, but OK to kill Israeli kids collectively for something they may or may not do in the future?
trip (696 D(B))
24 Jul 14 UTC

Yes, instead Hamas keeps Palestinian kids broke, hungry and uneducated so they can use them as human explosives. That's so much better.

obiwanobiwan (248 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
...Who's joking? Killing kids? Bad! ...Unless you're Hamas...

...Or are finding a way to pretzel-twist your morals into allowing you to support Hamas...and freedom...while being both anti-Israel-in-Gaza and yet pro-Conquest at the same time (which is it, Putin--you say you want the siege to end, and yet you said Conquest is Peace...so by your logic, shouldn't they hold and maintain the siege until they annex the Strip...something nobody but the most right-wing, xenophobic Israeli answers to the scum of Hamas would want?)
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
24 Jul 14 UTC
Something trip posted earlier, more or less.
hey finally glad you guys found the courage to dismay at Israeli tactics. Well done, we've made some progress here
I mean, it was really tough getting obi and trip to realize killing civilians was bad no matter the excuse, but it's actually exceptionally easy when you simply flip the sides. Weird!
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
Well, that wasn't self-serving or ignoring the previous point you made tacitly advocating Hamas' targeting of Israeli children at all...
I was being facetious obi. I don't condone killing children on either side. I made the comment to draw out the kind of responses you made because you're so predictable. Like damn dude.
trip (696 D(B))
24 Jul 14 UTC
@ Yang: Tell me your kidding...please.
trip (696 D(B))
24 Jul 14 UTC
What Israel should do is flatten a quarter mile of Gaza every day, from the coast to the eastern border, (with the usual warnings of course). I bet the before too long either Hamas would relent, or the Palestinians would turn on them. I know that's harsh, but wars are won by one side beating the other in to submission.
Lets consider the same situation for Hamas. "Drafting/Using" as "soldiers/human shields" does not justify violent action against them. Especially considering they have no say in the matter. Huh.

Your idea was so ridiculous I presumed you were following my lead and being facetious as well. If you were being genuine, well I'd say you'd have a hard time finding supporters for genocide.
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
Hamas doesn't target Israeli children. Virtually all of the Israeli war dead have been soldiers. But nice apologia for murdering kids, trip. You Israeli apologists are fucking monsters.
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
Trip needs to get the mapleleaf treatment. That post was sick. At least mapleleaf was kidding.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
"Hamas doesn't target Israeli children."

Right. And Russia doesn't jail gays.

Oh, that's right. Of course they don't. Not in Putin Land.

(But, here in the real world...)
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
I've told been told not to respond to Obi. Obi is abiding by the moderators about as much as Israel abides by truces.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
And as Hamas has repeatedly and explicitly said that it considers every Israeli a target...yes. They therefore target Israeli children.

The party's own line flatly contradicts your statement.

But, again, not in Putin land, where War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength, and Conquest is Good (except, of course, when it's Israel.)
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
24 Jul 14 UTC
I'm sorry, did pointing out that Hamas' own party line flatly contradicts your statement cross the magical border we've now apparently drawn?

OK--

No one is allowed to point out anyone's errors anymore. Period.

Starting with me--no pointing out when I'm wrong, now...that'd be bad.
