Realpolitik Diplomacy-sign ups
Realpolitik diplomacy is diplomacy with a twist, unlike the standard game, this game will be played with a internal politics mechanism. Instead of playing as a country, you play as a political party within that country, vying not only to be the dominant force on the board, but also to command the loyalties of your electorate. See in side for the rules.

I'm interested, but I think I'd be in favour of a mechanic that isn't based on how much Fasces likes my roleplaying, and I also don't have the time for proper role-playibg I think...

I'd be in if the campaign consists of several simple orders with known effects on the public, rather than an actual campaign to be judged by Fasces.

Also, who wins? The player in control of the country when the country wins? All players within the winning country? The player of the winning country with the most popular support in the end?

Perhaps a scoring system could be fun, with gaining SCs while you lead your country gaining you a lot of points and losing SCs loses you a lot of points, while popular support makes up the rest of the points?

" campaign bonus is "arbitrarily decided by me based mostly on roleplaying of the respective players)" Based on any particular criteria? And will pandering = more votes (and broken promises from the last time = fewer)?"
Good/creative roleplaying = more votes
Pandering to voters = more votes
Giving speeches = more votes
Broken promises = fewer votes
Advocating policies that the province supports = more votes
Advocating policies that the province opposes = more votes

I'll be fair, just because I despise socialism in real life doesn't mean I'm going to make it impossible for socialists to win.

"Who counts as the opposition leader? And do parties have the option of forming coalition governments? I would hope/assume yes to the latter question, but I just want to be sure."
Party with 2nd most amount of votes=Opposition Leader
Players can form coalition governments

"This is just a suggestion, but knock it down to 4 years (ignoring the Belgians' recent decision to go the other way). That makes it possible for governments (and therefore PMs and players) to switch around a little more often. Allowing for a little more turnover might make the game more lively for the players."
Ok, 4 years it is then.

"I'd assume so (and I approve; it's certainly the easiest way to go), but again, I'm just asking for clarification."
Each seat in the province gets a different dice roll, however the initial voter impressions and campaign bonuses will be identical from seat to seat.

"I'm interested, but I think I'd be in favour of a mechanic that isn't based on how much Fasces likes my roleplaying, and I also don't have the time for proper role-playibg I think..."
Personally I've always preferred roleplaying games that reward roleplaying. I don't want this to become a time sensitive game, but just giving the occasional speech, voicing the occasional opinions on how the game is going, make up a few laws your party wants to enact (that will have no effect on how the game turns out).

"Also, who wins? The player in control of the country when the country wins? All players within the winning country? The player of the winning country with the most popular support in the end?"
I was debating the who wins thing myself. I was thinking either:
1. First party to get a certain number of seats (~35-40)
2. Party in power of the country the wins
3. Cumulative score: Each seat you win in every election counts for 1 point, thus rewarding consistency.

When is this going to get started? I'm quite enthusiastic.
SYnapse (0 DX)

Also do we need to choose historical parties? Ie. England has Labour and Conservative? Or can you be an English nationalist for example? This potentially opens up the gameplay to infinite players
SYnapse (0 DX)
02 Jul 14 UTC
Ie. a nationalist would gain votes if the country was being attacked, whereas a liberal would gain votes if they were at peace and focused on strengthening alliances

"When is this going to get started? I'm quite enthusiastic."
We need at least 10 more people

"Also do we need to choose historical parties? Ie. England has Labour and Conservative? Or can you be an English nationalist for example? This potentially opens up the gameplay to infinite players"
Your party can be as real or fictional as you want it to be.
I suppose we get to tailor our parties to the ideological/political makeup of our country's provinces (we are going to get a province-by-province description of the people's predilections, I seem to recall?).......but do we have to limit our parties to just one core ideology each, or can we be opportunistic chameleons and change with the wildly blowing winds of fortune (like, say, issuing unexpected manifestos come election time) and see how well it flies with the voters?
Fasces349 (0 DX)
03 Jul 14 UTC
you can change your ideology, but if you change to frequently the voters will become distrusting.
Good! That's exactly how it should be. I confess I'll be fairly limited in the amount of campaign "press" I'm able to put up on a regular basis, but I'll do what I can when I can. Also, I'll just put out there that I'm not in a hurry to start.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
03 Jul 14 UTC
are you going on vacation soon?
No, but I don't want to be caught up in having to put out large amounts of regular campaign literature. That's one of the reasons I don't join the Mafia games when they come up, even though I suspect I'd enjoy the experience immensely.
And loss of some-to-many votes is the price for having a small and relatively mild campaign, I'm fine with that and have no complaints.
^Read that as "And IF the loss of some-to-many votes" etc.

anyway we need at least 15 people, so I'm still hoping for more sign-ups

You Say You Wanna 2nd American Revolution? Brits vs. Yanks Game!
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=144210 As we play "Fireworks or Gunshot?" here on July 4th in the States, why not join the ranks of your countrymen and start the whole damn bloody business over again? Brits (and Canadians, assuming the Brits agree) will fight on one side, Yanks on the other...winners get the pot (or I suppose can fall to fighting amongst themselves) AND have to adopt the other side's linguistic customs for one week after the loss--for Crown or Colonies, go!

Disband order for CD
When a country misses a move during build phase that it needs to disband in, what order are the units disbanded in? Is it totally random? Or does it have to do with the timeline in which the units were built?
