Hi, I'm new!
So I've found out about this awesome game and I'm looking to get into it while I have the free time available in my schedule.
The game rules are petty clear to me, but how do we communicate in-game? Is there a PM system, or do we use e-mail?

Bowie
I don't appreciate David Bowie as much as I think I should, and I feel badly about that, so I'm trying to make today an all-Bowie day at work. So please suggest a Bowie album for me to listen to. What's your favorite Bowie album and why?

Masculinity
At some point during the day, I reflected on this topic. Not in a "am I masculine" kind of way, but I tried to analyze the subject sort of as a neutral non-male observer. Should a "man" be "masculine"? Can a woman be masculine? Fascinating questions if you ask me.

This is not an apology or a goodbye. This is a statement.
I grow weary of the shit here in the forum. My health is failing and I am trying to go to school. So after this post, I am asking goldfinger to silence me for a period of no less than 1 year. I'll use the time to finish my games and do schoolwork.

This story rules. It exposes so much hypocrisy.

It exposes nothing, other than people here endorsing dirty tricks of the far-right (which itself is unsurprising). But the effects of his dishonest mailers are not at all clear, if people actually read the article.

But I'm sure the rightwing noise machine will run with it.

Putin, it says nothing about the far-right. Seriously? It says a TON about politicians but nothing about the far-right. The far-right speaks for itself, as does the far-left.

This is hilarious. If voters are stupid enough to vote for somebody just because he's black, AND stupid enough to not even bother to make sure, It's almost as though they deserve it :P.

I mean I don't really feel that way, but it's still hilarious.

"rightwing noise machine"

Lol libtards are almost always the loudest ones, who like to brand people names like fascist, racist, sexist etc just to shut them up when the speaker is none of those.
Need an example? Ok

A dirty trick that only works if a significant amount of people vote solely based on race. The margin's so thin and the guy himself is so wildly unlike the electorate at large the mailers must have had an effect.

And how dirty, really? It's for the community college board. Not exactly high office. This is nothing but a neat little story on how ridiculous racial issues in local elections can be.

Wait...it's a dirty trick for a conservative guy to pretend to be black to win an election?

Now let's break this down slowwwwwly...

1. According to you good libtards out there, all conservative white guys are inherently racist, and think that black people are inferior
2. Being a racist, no self-respecting bigot could possibly imagine his glorious white self losing to an inferior black person
3. Yet he someone pretends to be a black guy to win the election...

Instead of this being a racist act on the part of the white conservative guy, maybe it's actually the white guy demonstrating that *he* isn't the one that's racist. Why would he "lower" himself to be "less" of a person?

It's fucking brilliant, is what it is. It's a politician that apparently knows his dumb-ass constituents, and knows how to play them.

I wonder how many of you people that are expressing such horrified outrage...I wonder...I wonder exactly how many of you are equally outraged that the Obama administration *knew* the truth about how many people would lose their insurance (because we have the *documentation to prove they knew!)...and yet Obama lied about this over and over and over again. I wonder....if you people are reallly soooooo concerned about honesty in politics...I wonder how many of your are *truly* ourtaged at all the lies from Obama.

Are are you just fucking hypocrites?

What would happen if someone who was an imposter in some other way got elected? Does he remain elected even though it's not who people thought they were voting for? What happens if he uses someone else's picture and says it's him? Does the dude in the picture win the election?

I think this says a lot more about voters than politicians. In today's age, it would have taken well under 10 minutes to realize what this guy was doing with a quick Google search. It's really inexcusable to vote for someone not knowing their positions on major issues. To not even know his race is unfathomable.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
10 Nov 13 UTC
As I believe Invictus pointed out, this is not exactly an important position...
krellin (80 DX)

@Tendmote - actually, in Michigan, there was a case a couple years ago where some assholes in the Republican party, I believe, worked to register someone under false pretenses to siphon votes from the Democrat candidate. I forget the exact details, but the candidate was thrown off the ballot, and they may have even brought charges against the ass clowns that were trying to perpetrate what was essentially election fraud.

@abge - yes, it says everything about the voters, and the only thing it says about the politician is, as I said, he knows the voters. The feigned outrage of anybody who is angry about this....but isn't angry about EVERY lie from EVERY OTHER politician...demonstrates that this is a non-issue.

"What would happen if someone who was an imposter in some other way got elected? Does he remain elected even though it's not who people thought they were voting for? What happens if he uses someone else's picture and says it's him? Does the dude in the picture win the election?"

I think things would be very different if he actually did say that he was black. But he didn't. He just used only black people in his mailings (nothing wrong with that) and took advantage of the fact that his cousin had the same name as the incumbent (shady, but I can't imagine how that could be illegal). His actions weren't terribly honorable, but they also don't look to be fraudulent at all. Everything he said was true, he just presented it in a way that could be interpreted that he was black.

As far as politicians' lies and election chicanery goes, this isn't in the top hundred thousand.
