What is this? (Ancient Med map)
This is probably gonna sound stupid but, what is that L shaped, light blue thing on the Ancient Med map? It can't be just my PC since it appears on my laptop as well.

Edi Birsan End of Game Statement, please discuss:
I wanted to say thank you to all the players for this game and especially to Akroma who made it very interesting and entertaining for me. I think we all know that she had a won game here and elected not to take it. For me that is the sign of breaking through the status of a veteran into a higher field of play.

Why do people call Turkey the worst nation to be?
Why? Italy's WAY worse than Turkey to draw, if France goes all crazy and attack you from the start, good luck. If you try to lepanto, almost every Turkish player has seen that, and If you ally with Austria, they hardly ever trust you and as soon as you start dieing, they dive head first at you. Is there anybody here who actually LIKES to play Italy?

How many CDs are enough?
Personally, I think two CDs within the first 2 years, or 2 or more later on when one of the CDs is, for example, the largest power on the board.

What happens if?
If two armies try to enter an empty territory with equal support, they bounce. What happens to the occupying army if two armies try to enter an occupied territory, each having the same support, and the occupying army has no support at all?

I'm just happy this thread gets to stay near the top. As for Hobbits and deep-frying, I just assumed deep-frying is unusually energy intensive for the shire. I mean, it takes a lot of energy to get oil hot enough to deep fry in any kind of volume. And Hobbits strike me as too laid back to really bother.
vexlord (231 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
deep frying requires lots of oil, i could see pan frying for hobbits but not basket frying atleast not unless it was a special occasion.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
26 Apr 10 UTC
Orcs on the other hand, I can see them deep-frying some hobbits.
Stukus (2126 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
Oh ya, the Orcs would definitely be the deep-frying type. I mean, why built up industry UNLESS you're going to invent deep-frying?
Parallelopiped (691 D)

Orcs eat meat raw.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
26 Apr 10 UTC
Yeah, but who doesn't? The question for those that know Tolkien lore better than I, do Orcs only eat raw meat?
Stukus (2126 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
Can you deep-fry meat without really cooking it much? Like, batter cold raw meat and deep fry it quickly before the meat cooks much? Then you could have the best of both worlds! They have fried ice cream, ya? You should be able to have deep-fried raw meat. The only reason we don't is because he don't like raw meat. Usually.

Steak Tartare is very good and recommend it to any anyone willing to eat raw beef and egg yolks at the same time.It is a classic dish but due to health rules in most areas. You will have to make it at home.Sounds good eh.
Stukus (2126 D)
27 Apr 10 UTC
Eh, I don't like egg yolks. When I have hard boiled eggs I take 'em out, and when I do fried eggs I break 'em. Concentrated yolks taste bad.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
27 Apr 10 UTC
One of my favorite sandwiches you start by making half a grilled cheese sandwich. Butter on one side of the bread, Tilamook Cheddar cheese on the other side and cook it in the frying pan until brown. Then put aside and cook a couple of eggs, without breaking the yolk, keeping it nice and juicy. When the first side is done I flip it, give it about 10 seconds, and then put it on top of the bread and cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Stukus (2126 D)
27 Apr 10 UTC
Hey, what are good sandwich cheeses? I use salami and cappicolo (Spelling?), but I'm stuck with provolone cheese, because I'm afraid to try something new. What's a good cheese for deli meat sandwiches? Besides provolone, swiss, american, or cheddar.
Stukus (2126 D)
27 Apr 10 UTC
I vote we turn this into the cooking thread, by the way.
Draugnar (0 DX)

That open faced egg and cheese sandwich sounds yummy except I'd have to break the yolk and hard fry it. I don't like runny egg yolks.

Eh, when I was a kid, I had a thing for peanut butter mixed with honey between to slices of good solid white bread (the filling would be too heavy to really work with something like wonderbread).
baumhaeuer (245 D)
27 Apr 10 UTC
The german word for Jesus' feeding of the five thousand is Wunderbrot, litterally "wonderbread," which I always found amusing due to the association with that pathetic exscuse for pastry known as "wonderbread."
Stukus (2126 D)
27 Apr 10 UTC
Peanut butter mixed with honey? I'd be worried about suffocation. Where's the lubrication? It sounds like an interesting experimentation, but I fear a cessation of my inhalation if I engage in such mastication.
PirateFace (100 D)

@Stukus, Monterey Jack is a great sandwich cheese, goes especially well with roast beef.
baumhaeuer (245 D)

@Stukus:
lol
Dad always fretted about that. Think about just peanut butter between two pieces of bread: honey makes the peanut butter quite softer, depending the ratio used. Plus, there is a fairly nice after-taste if you have some milk (as Dad insisted) to go with that.

Its all about the peanut butter and banana sandwiches. So good! Though if any of you are familiar with the restaurant Benigans, they have a sandwich called the Monte Cristo that is godly.
Stukus (2126 D)

I think buffalo chicken and blue cheese are my favorite sandwiches. Mmm-mmm.
Alderian (2425 D(S))

Stukus, try some Munster cheese. I love my Tillamook Cheddar cheese but Munster is good too.

I keep saying Tillamook by the way because I've tried other Cheddars and they pale in comparison. Or outright suck. Bandon Cheddar is horrible. I'm also picky about my Chocolate icecream. Lochmead Chocolate icecream is the best.

Draugnar (0 DX)

@wydend - The Monte Cristo is one of my favorite sandwiches. I mean who doesn't like turkey and ham and rasberry jam on bread that is dipped in batter and deep fried.

Bennigans closed here a decade or more ago, unfortunately, but they used to have a ham and cheese on pretzel that was incredible. There are a few other places with great Monte Cristos, but I never found a better ham and cheese than Bennigans' Pretzel sandwich.
Draugnar (0 DX)
27 Apr 10 UTC
@Alderian - why would you even try a cheddar from Oregon (Bandon). If it isn't from the North East (Vermont or Connecticut) or from Wisconsin it isn't good cheddar.
Draugnar (0 DX)
27 Apr 10 UTC
Cheeses to try.
Goat Cheese
Butterkase
Gouda
Muenster
Havarti
Baby Swiss
Cheddar (can confirm Alderian's high praise of Tillamook)

These are mostly soft cheeses with varying degrees of bite. I also like harder cheeses that have even more bite like a good traditional aged swiss or Roquefort.

England should not open to the English Channel in gunboat
As France, considering I was thoroughly screwed because Germany and Italy moved unrelentingly against me, I decided to take England down with me. And this decision came totally because England opened to EC in gunboat.

I'm always looking for new music and I'm curious to know what you like. Musical tastes can tell a lot about a person I believe. So, post the name of the performer and the name of the song and try to include a video link so that we might hear it too. I'll start.

How to get more D's?
I am new to webdiplomacy, and I am playing quite a few games at the same time. The problem is that I do not feel that the games are moving fast enough, and I have only 1 D to play - meaning I am not able to join any more games.

Is there a way to borrow D's? Or even to play without D's?
