This is probably gonna sound stupid but, what is that L shaped, light blue thing on the Ancient Med map? It can't be just my PC since it appears on my laptop as well.

Edi Birsan End of Game Statement, please discuss:
I wanted to say thank you to all the players for this game and especially to Akroma who made it very interesting and entertaining for me. I think we all know that she had a won game here and elected not to take it. For me that is the sign of breaking through the status of a veteran into a higher field of play.

Why do people call Turkey the worst nation to be?
Why? Italy's WAY worse than Turkey to draw, if France goes all crazy and attack you from the start, good luck. If you try to lepanto, almost every Turkish player has seen that, and If you ally with Austria, they hardly ever trust you and as soon as you start dieing, they dive head first at you. Is there anybody here who actually LIKES to play Italy?

Sex is personal and should only be in the bedroom with the S/O, or the office or boardroom with the mistress (or the oval office or the nudie bar or at a massive orgy on the beach during spring break or on a rollercoaster or...).

@ Friendly Sword:

"Well Jamie, there are arguments about child psychology to think about, if you are interested in a counter-argument, but I feel like you probably aren't. :) "

I accept that you could raise issues of child psychology at the most sexual end of the spectrum, but I don't think that anyone could argue that it is damaging for a child to see people holding hands or kissing.

Yes of course, I was thinking only about public nudity and public sex.

Visibility of adult genitalia is somewhat of a different issue than mere mouth-mashing. It can be gross for anyone ^^, but very rarely psychologically traumatizing.

TMW must have had a terrible time navigating the halls of his high school.

LOL, FS.
@ stratagos, Draug, and FS -- I won't devulge my real age, but I will tell you that I'm married, and have been out of the service for two years. I am a professor in Aeronautics. Did it ever occur to you that a hormonal teenager probably wouln't have conservative views about PDA?

@ Jamiet -- I was referring to stratagos' disgusting homosexual fantasy involving me

@ FS, Jamiet, and everyone else -- What I'm about to say will be considered radical. Our society is way over-sexed. Homosexuals, Bisexuals, and (insert label here)sexuals, run amok, waving rainbow flags and demanding attention. Slutty women can get government-funded abortions. Some schools are giving free condoms to teenagers. We're telling our children that it's okay to have sex before marriage, and that it's okay to be gay. Pornography and strip clubs are everywhere. Sex shops sell everything even related to sex. The list goes on.

And we wonder why Muslims (who are generally conservative, especially about modesty) want to kill us. Sure, we support Israel, and that's a good thing. Most Muslims would be able to look past that if our society didn't revolve around sex. Our society encourages promiscuity. We're not going to make them liberal. Our ongoing cultural clash with them is not sustainable. Our only choice is to become more modest. I'm not advocating anything as radical as burqas and chastity belts. Being chaste, monogamous, and dressing modestly should be a social expectation. You guys might argue that humans are sexual beings, and I won't refute that. But as long as we're acting like animals, we might as well strip off all of our clothes and hunt with our teeth and eat vegetation to survive.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
29 Jul 10 UTC
@ TMW - Sorry, I simply don't believe that is a factual statement. Several things about your posts indicate you're a teenager. I'm certainly not going to deny you the right to post as if that was not true, but I will continue to operate on that assumption.

A view of 'ick' when it comes to PDAs is consistent with this, as - as I pointed out before - I assume you are not the *recipient* of PDAs, and hence are, at best, feeling jealous and/or alone when you see them. I certainly felt the same when I was an outcast at your age - but I will note I had the courtesy to keep my internal turmoil to myself.

As for your attempts to derail the conversation with more fake 'conservative' views, I'm afraid you haven't manage to deflect my attention from the point you've refused to answer any of my questions, which indicates to me that you don't have a good answer.

Which, again, is not an indication that there is anything *wrong* with you - but I think you'll find that hiding your head in the sand ultimately isn't going to make you happy.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)

The_Master_Warrior:

"I am a professor in Aeronautics."

Hahahahaha, I cannot believe you are still claiming that. Thank you for giving me a good laugh.

"Some schools are giving free condoms to teenagers."

Good. There is no way you will ever stop teenagers having sex. Isn't it therefore better to ensure they avoid STD's and unwanted pregnancies?

"We're telling our children that it's okay to have sex before marriage, and that it's okay to be gay."

That's because both these things ARE perfectly ok.

"Sex shops sell everything even related to sex."

What else would you expect them to sell? Fishing tackle?

"And we wonder why Muslims (who are generally conservative, especially about modesty) want to kill us. Sure, we support Israel, and that's a good thing. Most Muslims would be able to look past that if our society didn't revolve around sex."

Bull. Shit. 9/11 had nothing to do with sex shops and free condoms.

"Being chaste, monogamous, and dressing modestly should be a social expectation."

Why? On all three counts, why? I am currently in a non-monogamous relationship structure and it suits me fine. Who are you to say that what I am doing is wrong?

I'd also like to point out that a "Professor" requires, at a minimum, a Master's degree, and typically a PhD. Your writing style, word choice, conversational ability, and debating skills are inconsistent with this.

I'd like to point out that I'm *not* claiming that TMW is gay. I am, however, stating that he has desires/inclinations in that fashion that he is ashamed to admit. Whether these are just fantasies that occasionally dance through his head or are strong enough that he actively contemplates physical encounters is impossible to tell. I have my own theory, but I lack enough evidence to prove it, and I'd like to keep this debate as rational as possible.
"Bull. Shit. 9/11 had nothing to do with sex shops and free condoms."

The fuck it didn't. That and (sorry for the communist word) and some people's decadence. Like the TV show "My Sweet 16". Do parents have a right to throw a 600,000 dollar party for their children when there's starving kids in the world? Absolutely. Should they? If they do, they had better lose a lot of sleep over it.
@ stratagos

You don't even know me. I have a wife and I am exclusively heterosexual. I have never thought of another man in a sexual way.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
29 Jul 10 UTC
Your attempt to deflect that conversation with "I am the moral authority and I reserve the right to tell you how to live your life" trolls isn't fooling anyone.

It's obvious that the things I'm saying are bothering you, but you don't have a comeback.

And, again, I'm not saying you have to. What goes on in your mind is your business, in the grand scheme of things.

But the sooner you face up to these things, the happier you'll end up being
stratagos (3269 D(S))
29 Jul 10 UTC
@TMW - you are absolutely correct that I do not know you, but I have known people *like* you in the past. Your posts are inconsistent with someone who is "exclusively heterosexual". I'd claim it was inconsistent with marriage as well, but I've seen some pretty oddball marriages in my time, so I'd concede that - except for the whole "If it walks like a teenage and quacks like a teenager, it's a teenager" thing.

If you're married, it certainly is not a relationship based on affection. I've seen plenty of those as well.

But I have an extremely hard time believing you're married

@ The_Master_Warrion: "Do parents have a right to throw a 600,000 dollar party for their children when there's starving kids in the world? Absolutely. Should they? If they do, they had better lose a lot of sleep over it."

I agree that this is disgusting behaviour, Professor. In a better-organised economic system, this would not be possible, because no individual or family would be able to amass $600,000. It's more money than anyone needs to have.
@THW/Jamiet: That reminds of that commercial for Toyota, with this woman talking about how her family has a bunch of Toyotas, once even up to fifteen, and that just disgusted me. There are starving people around the world, and you buy fifteen Toyota's!? How about, buy one Toyota, and use the money for the other 14 to help starving people in Africa. Otherwise that's just selfish beyond belief.
Draugnar (0 DX)
29 Jul 10 UTC
What if she is talking family as in her mom and dad and his mom and dad and all their grown kids and all their spouses. You have to put it in context. There may be a need for 15 cars (I have 8 aunts and uncles all but two of which are married. That alone is 14 cars just for them).

So, you're a university prof TMW? Aeronautics...sounds siencey. Still, it's rare you hear of someone that highly educated who is still so basically intolerant. I suggest next time you're around campus you speak to one of your colleagues in any number of humanities and social sciences departments, or even biology departments who can explain why your stodgy, conservative views on sex need a bit of reevaluation. Personally I suggest a modern, cultural anthropology prof, but that's just my own bias speaking.
That is of course assuming you're a professor Dr Master Warrior, Ph.D. (Spoiler alert: This is sarcasm, I know you're not.)

On a more relevant note,
@ Draugnar "Sex is personal and should only be in the bedroom with the S/O, or the office or boardroom with the mistress (or the oval office or the nudie bar or at a massive orgy on the beach during spring break or on a rollercoaster or...)."
On a rollercoaster? Now I have to try that, just, how would it work, logistically speaking?

When I was in College I worked a couple summers on a beer cart at Kings Island. The after hours parties were pretty awesome. ;-) You have to both be skinny for it to work (sorry, no. Chubby chasers cannot make this work). Make certain the bar isn't all the way tight. Girl in skirt or stretchable shorts. Guy in shorts. Both going commando. Ride in the last seat of the last car and as you climb the big hill, she slides over on top. the after parties would run the loop several times without any stopping so you'd have 10 or 15 minutes of "riding" to work it all out.
*is interested to hear exactly what measuring stick one uses to determine how much money one "needs," as well as why one person's opinion of it is definitive enough to create an economic system that governs millions*

Personally, I think two CDs within the first 2 years, or 2 or more later on when one of the CDs is, for example, the largest power on the board.
