What is this? (Ancient Med map)
This is probably gonna sound stupid but, what is that L shaped, light blue thing on the Ancient Med map? It can't be just my PC since it appears on my laptop as well.

This is not a team bashing or promoting thread, just a discussion about why we have assigned our selves with certain teams. I guess this can go for any sport really...

Edi Birsan End of Game Statement, please discuss:
I wanted to say thank you to all the players for this game and especially to Akroma who made it very interesting and entertaining for me. I think we all know that she had a won game here and elected not to take it. For me that is the sign of breaking through the status of a veteran into a higher field of play.

Why do people call Turkey the worst nation to be?
Why? Italy's WAY worse than Turkey to draw, if France goes all crazy and attack you from the start, good luck. If you try to lepanto, almost every Turkish player has seen that, and If you ally with Austria, they hardly ever trust you and as soon as you start dieing, they dive head first at you. Is there anybody here who actually LIKES to play Italy?

How many CDs are enough?
Personally, I think two CDs within the first 2 years, or 2 or more later on when one of the CDs is, for example, the largest power on the board.

What happens if?
If two armies try to enter an empty territory with equal support, they bounce. What happens to the occupying army if two armies try to enter an occupied territory, each having the same support, and the occupying army has no support at all?

I think that in Ithilien Sam and Frodo make it clear that whilst lembas is a delight and a source of endless nutrition it does not, somehow, satisfy the hobbit yearning for home comforts in the way of a Bywater seed-cake (they may be on record as referring to coneys and potato but I know for a fact that it was the Bywater seed-cake that was mentioned in the original conversation and it was a later editor's hand that added the rabbit hunting episode to make Gollum appear in a more favourable light).

@jamiet99uk: I was experimenting with the possibility of burying a particular thread by bumping enough other threads on top of it to drive it off the screen. And I didn't want to say 'bump'. I thought that 'no cheating allowed' would be innocuous enough as to be dismissed by any readers of that particular thread.
KaptinKool (408 D)

What determines when a thread dies? Is it position or time since last post?
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
So, mdrltc admits to attempting a depth charge. Didn't the mods ban someone in the past for depth charging the forum?
mdrltc (1818 D(G))
26 Apr 10 UTC
Well, if that's what it was, i.e. 'depth charge' (I had no idea the term existed, but seems appropriate) then yes, of course I admit it. And if it's not allowed you’d think it would say somewhere within in the Help link. But if it did exist, it would probably be one of those unenforceable rules. Really, how would you prove that a comment such as ‘bump’ was intended as part of a ‘depth charge’ rather than a legitimate comment?
Parallelopiped (691 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
Threads never die - they just move to page 2 of the forum.
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
And it takes like page 20 or something before you can no longer post. Depth charges haven't been an issue for some time, ever since going to a multi-page forum. It used to be one page and you could actually make a thread drop off completely, so Kestas and the Mods (now doing their reunion tour, next stop Sydney) declared it a bannable offense.

@mdrltc: "I was experimenting with the possibility of burying a particular thread by bumping enough other threads on top of it to drive it off the screen. And I didn't want to say 'bump'. I thought that 'no cheating allowed' would be innocuous enough as to be dismissed by any readers of that particular thread. "

Why did you do that? That is dickish behaviour in the extreme.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
Anyway you basically admit that you had nothing to contribute to this, or any of the other threads you depthcharged. This makes you a troll.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
26 Apr 10 UTC
mdrltc, you asked why he commented on your post rather than the others. My belief is that he commented on your post because it was actually somewhat on-topic and therefore SHOULD be addressed.

Had you wished your post to be uncommented upon, you would have been better served by posting an off-topic comment, in this particular thread's case at least.
mdrltc (1818 D(G))
26 Apr 10 UTC
@Jamiet99uk - Well, there is nothing 'basically' about it. I absolutely had nothing to contribute to the thread and stated so. And if that makes me an ASW officer, well, I suspect that I 'm not the first and if frowned upon, I certainly won't do it again. If that makes me a troll, then so be it. However, your only apparent contribution has been to state the obvious. What does that make you?
mdrltc (1818 D(G))
26 Apr 10 UTC
@Alderian - thanks, at least you submit a valid point.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
You still haven't explained which thread you were trying to depthcharge, or why. Did one of the nasty big boys call you a rude name and you didn't want your mommy to see?
mdrltc (1818 D(G))
26 Apr 10 UTC
@Draugnar, so the take away from your post is that 'depth charging' refered to an attempt to bury a comment within a 'thread' (page) and that technique is not longer possible (multiple pages). Therefore, what I attempted was not truely 'depth charging' but deserving of a new term, perhaps 'trolling' would be appropriate.
KaptinKool (408 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
Okay Draug answered my question. I meant what makes them frozen (or unable to post on, etc.)
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
'Thread' and 'page' are two different things.
mdrltc (1818 D(G))
26 Apr 10 UTC
@Jamiet99uk, lol. Grow up, comments regarding my 'Mommy' I would have thought beneath you. I wanted to see what would happen if I buried the thread entitled 'last to post wins' (admittedly a very infantile thread). If it was pushed of the screen, would everybody forget about it?
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
26 Apr 10 UTC
"I wanted to see what would happen if I buried the thread entitled 'last to post wins' "

Oh, I wish you'd said. I hate that fucking thread.

@Jamie - Hate is an awfully strong word, and last I knew threads couldn't reproduce and had no sex organs, so how is it fucking if I may ask?
mdrltc (1818 D(G))
26 Apr 10 UTC
Yes, well, as I suggested in that thread, Kestas ought to use it as a fundraiser. Auction off the last post, then drop the thread.
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 Apr 10 UTC
I already offered a billion Zimbabwean dollars (that's about 8 cents US).
mdrltc (1818 D(G))

I do enjoy the contents of these threads. Where else can you find commentary on the role and preparation of potatoes in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings?
mdrltc (1818 D(G))
26 Apr 10 UTC
And what's really sad is that the thread LAST PERSON TO POST WINS!!!!!!!!... is just one below this thread and Draguner thinks he won.

England should not open to the English Channel in gunboat
As France, considering I was thoroughly screwed because Germany and Italy moved unrelentingly against me, I decided to take England down with me. And this decision came totally because England opened to EC in gunboat.

What are you listening too?
I'm always looking for new music and I'm curious to know what you like. Musical tastes can tell a lot about a person I believe. So, post the name of the performer and the name of the song and try to include a video link so that we might hear it too. I'll start.

And it's ahd some GREAT episodes. So Trekkers- which ones are the best? Which series had the most? Best Moment of All Time? (No movies, just TV.) ENGAGE!

How to get more D's?
I am new to webdiplomacy, and I am playing quite a few games at the same time. The problem is that I do not feel that the games are moving fast enough, and I have only 1 D to play - meaning I am not able to join any more games.

Is there a way to borrow D's? Or even to play without D's?
