Sarg, will you make a ruling on whether the game is drawn or cancelled?

Ok, firstly, I think it is fine to discuss an on-going game if it appears necessary to have it stopped or paused.

Secondly, my preference is that no game in the Series will be cancelled.

Looking at the game, it is quite clear that it should now stop, especially as 4 of the 6 active players have voted draw. My advice would be for the other two remaining players to vote draw and for the game to end.

I agree with Sarg. It's important to draw games, not cancel them, we need to know who resigners are for the future of the league.

Hypothetically speaking, what if Russia rejoins the game before going CD?

I wanted to weigh in primarily because I'm not in that game, so I'm impartial. Not that I think Sarg has an agenda, that would be ridiculous, but others might take offence to rules being made by a player, even if he started the league. I was the only one defeated in the other game that was drawn. Obviously it would have been better for me if it was canceled, I wouldn't have a defeat on my record. I still think the draw was the right thing to do. And even if whoever plays Russia comes back, the game balance is thrown. There's no game left to salvage. At least not a quality game, which is the intent of this league.

I'm interested if more games are forming.

I would like to point out in game two that Russia has CD'd, returned, and now NMR'd. That's three consecutive turns of not inputting orders. I am bumping this thread so whomever has not voted draw sees Sarg's and Vaftrudner's ruling.

I will also take this moment to criticize our hold outs, because the game now factors into GR because of the wait.

Actually, as the organizers, you could ask mods for a force draw. Especially since Russia is well on the way to CD number 2.

Oh, and if Vaftrudner gets that Rent-A-Mod position, he could do it himself

Also, rather than dragging dirty linen out into the public - it might be wiser to direct your messages privately to me or Vaftrudner. This is one minor problem - amongst 11 other successful ongoing games. I don't want these incessant messages to detract people from playing - as you can see in the game everyone bar one person has now voted draw. The message is getting out, you just have to have some patience.

Sarg, I do apologize. I guess I misread where you and Vaftrudner said that you (pl.) would sort out this game.

I'll keep myself in check from now on. I suppose I hoped that the Germany would see this thread and your ruling with my bumps. That was presumptuous of me, and I again offer my apologies.

Yes indeed! I am starting three more games now. Sarg has officially renamed the league to 5 Point Gunboat Challenge Series, so I will give the games shorter names.

As an aside, I have had fun writing a python script that collects all the data from the series, makes statistics, sorts players, imports points and GR and seeds games. I've used it to create these three new games. If anyone's interested in it, I'll publish the code once I've refined it a bit and tested it a bit more. If you want me to program something similar for you, and it won't take too much of my time, I'll be happy to help.

You'll all be receiving invites soon! Also, an extra plus to Mr A, who gave my code a stroke by being in more games than his max, something I hadn't planned for. Kudos.

@Mr A: Yes, don't worry - The games were always called the Gunboat Challenge, I just attached my name to get people motivated by seeing a supposedly 'experienced' higher GR-rated gunboat player setting up the games.

Now that the games are off the ground, we will call them "Gunboat Challenge: Game XXX" which should be a bit kinder to your eyes.

I have to ask because I honestly don't know, will a game start automatically once all players have joined if the phase length is a day or longer? It seems that way. But I haven't started a game that's not a live game in years... So feel free to laugh at me.
