I kinda like the many-parties idea. I don't really understand the game well enough to intelligently comment but it just sounds more interesting.

I do like third party ideas. They speed up the game and encourage lateral thinking and more interesting deduction. Though I do get the traditionalist approach as we can't saturate the game with roles without descending into chaos.

Sorry guys, I'd had a couple of beers last night and it seemed like a good thing to get sucked into, sadly the time commitment is too much. I will of course observe though!

I know I already basically said this, but in response to:

It's not like saying Diplomacy can only be played with 7 players- it's like saying that diplomacy can only be played with 3+ players. Playing two player diplomacy (like in F v A or other fun variants) completely compromises the character of the game. It's still fun in some ways, but it is no longer diplomacy. Same with mafia except in the reverse.

More importantly, last we heard was:

"The game will begin Friday (Nov 28) at 5 PM EST (10 PM GMT) so to make it a bit more fair time for Europeans leading up to deadlines."

So exciting!

Well, we'll find out what happens in a couple hours.

Are roles assigned randomly or does the GM decide who gets which role?

Random assignment with a random number generator.

Working on stuff now, role PMs will be sent out about 5 minute prior to the game starting.

Whatever you do, just make sure ghug and I are on the same side so that if he lynches me he can feel bad about it.

Few things would feel as satisfying as bussing you day one.

30ish minutes to start.

Beginning of the game will be delayed slightly (30 minutes to an hour) so I can do a better beginning of game write-up. Took longer than I thought to get the starting stuff taken care of.

Same disclaimer as I gave last game: I am no longer a college student, so I now actually can't play from about 8-5 pm EST most days, so my post frequency will be lower than it was in, say, M2. Having said that, I still plan on being one of the most frequent posters, and can't wait to stay undefeated.

@bo sox - thanks for posting that link. Also on that page was the World Cup betting thread. I'm owed over 20000 - yeah, go me.

Almost done with the write up. I think we'll start at 5:15 or 5:30. The missing 15-30 minutes will be adjusted for at the end of the night phase, I think.
