What is this? (Ancient Med map)
This is probably gonna sound stupid but, what is that L shaped, light blue thing on the Ancient Med map? It can't be just my PC since it appears on my laptop as well.

Edi Birsan End of Game Statement, please discuss:
I wanted to say thank you to all the players for this game and especially to Akroma who made it very interesting and entertaining for me. I think we all know that she had a won game here and elected not to take it. For me that is the sign of breaking through the status of a veteran into a higher field of play.

Why do people call Turkey the worst nation to be?
Why? Italy's WAY worse than Turkey to draw, if France goes all crazy and attack you from the start, good luck. If you try to lepanto, almost every Turkish player has seen that, and If you ally with Austria, they hardly ever trust you and as soon as you start dieing, they dive head first at you. Is there anybody here who actually LIKES to play Italy?

Are you going to answer the questions that have been asked, specifically the ones related to your 'God doesn't like Teh Gays' statements?
Alright, here is a summary of my current beliefs: Sin and immorality are two different things. A lot of Christians say immorality is a type of sin, I say sin is a type of immorality (And the worst kind). God decides what is moral and what is not, and what is sin and what is not. Sin would be violating a direct command from God. Imorality would be doing something that is wrong, but that does not mean it is sinful. It can just lead to sin. The laws of Leviticus summarize what is immoral (such a homosexuality) but as the laws only applied to Israelites, doing these things is only sinful for Israelites (And only the ancient Israelites. I know Jesus said he didn't come to change the law, but he was talking to Gentiles too, and the only law that God had set for for Israelites AND Gentiles was the Ten Commandments. And Jesus did not change the Ten Commandments). The reason God commanded the Israelites to not do anything immoral was because they were his chosen people, and he wanted them to be righteous. We however, only have to obey the 10 commandments, plus Jesus' commands to love God and eachother. In fact Paul in Romans says that loving God and eachother fulfills the law. When Paul warns against sexual immorality, he is just talking about how immorality leads to sin. (i.e. disobeying God)
So, there are my beliefs. What do you think.

Some of you truly disgust me.

My favorite was when someone aid if they ever get hit on by a guy they would pull a gun on them. How does that even close to make sense?

I think, frankly, you don't want my opinion, so I'll keep it (mostly) to myself.

Rote following of rules - be they from the Bible or Washington - has always struck me as a poor substitute for reason and being willing to accept that your decisions are *your decisions*, without using the excuse that someone else said it was ok to do what you did or act as you chose.
Friendly Sword (636 D)

God hates teh gays almost as much as he hates teh shell-fishes, but only the Jews need worry about that particular example of scripture. (Hear that Israel!?!?) ^^

In any case, I have no strong issue with Conservative Man here. He has all but admitted that he doesn't like men pleasuring other men with their naughty parts because of his personal interpretation of the Bible, but he has also admitted he won't do anything about it, and doesn't want others to.

This isn't really a problem.

Irrational prudishness justified retroactively with scripture and expressed sanctimoniously, mind you, but essentially harmless.

As a result, we're still cool CM, even though you think I shouldn't have fun with my boyfriend. :(
Mafialligator (239 D)

Though I suspect, Conservative Man, that if you ever did manage to make a gay friend, you would not remain friends for long if you repeatedly tried to convince him of why he was wrong.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I didn't know you were gay, Amicable ...er... "Sword"... :-) I knew Sicarius was polyamorous. But tis a far, far newer atttribute to the name Friendly Sword than that which I have ever attributed before. :-) Sorry, I'm on a Dicken's kick of late.
@Mafia: Well, now that I have reevaluated Leviticus, I probably would not bother him about it, as I posted above it's wrong, but not a sin.
Sicarius (673 D)
27 Jul 10 UTC
Polyamory is not a sexual orientation. It is a relationship structure (as opposed to monogamy)
I am not straight though. Straights confuse me.
@Sicarius: So you're bisexual?
Mafialligator (239 D)
27 Jul 10 UTC
Huh, well I'm glad to see that someone is actually being reasonable and admitting to a slight change of heart. That's rare on these forums. Good on you CM.

Also @TMW, you would pull a gun on a guy who touched your ARM, and asked if you wanted to "have fun"? Wow. Well in the interests of fairness, I suppose straight women should also be allowed to carry guns which they can pull on any guys who look at their breasts or come up to them in a bar and say "So do you come here often?"
SynalonEtuul (1050 D)

It seems probable that everyone's bisexual
@Synalon: I'm not at all attracted to guys, so I'm not bisexual.
Draugnar (0 DX)
27 Jul 10 UTC
@Synalon - Nope, not I. Maybe at some point everyone was bicurious, but not bisexual.

@Sic - I'm sorry. I never did catch what you referred to yourself as. I know it was something other then bisexual. Would it be safe to say "polysexual"?

Yeah, I'm not 'gay', to be clear. I like my women too. Possibly more so. :) To me it's a matter of preferences and open-mindedness.

"It seems probable that everyone's bisexual"

At least in varying degrees. Still, that shit is pretty complicated... so I have reservations about generalizing even so broadly. :)

In any case I think that bisexuality is a matter of identity as much as a classification of sexual preferences.

@ Hammac: "Yet another good reason for banning the carrying of guns!"

Hammac +1

Yet another one to add to the list of dozens of great reasons to ban the carrying of guns.

@Conservative Man: "And, to just place this on record, the Bible only mentions guy on guy as wrong, not girl on girl, so I don't dislike girl on girl."

Do you base all your likes and dislikes on the literal interpretation of what is written in the Bible?

@Conservative Man: " I wouldn't stop them there, but if I has a friend was gay, everyone once in a while I'd try to tell him how and why it's wrong."

And hopefully he'd tell you how and why you should shut up and get your nose out of his sexuality.

@Conservative Man: "And, if you realize that the "days" in Genesis are actually eras, and that God was the one that conrolled evolution, then you know that Genesis accurately reflects the creation of the universe. "

And how are you supposed to know that? Why doesn't the Bible make this clear?

@The_Master_Warrior: "If I'm a responsible, law-abiding adult, what's wrong with me slinging an AR-15?"

How fucking stupid can you get? What if you obtain the gun BEFORE you commit your first crime? If I'm allowed a gun, should I also be allowed an RPG? A howitzer? What about a tank? That'd keep the gays at bay!

@ Conservative Man: "@Synalon: If I had to choose between those two options, I would say that they only applied to the Israelites, however, just because they are in the same section doesn't meen they are the same type. Both of those types apply to all Israelites, one applies to others too. However, now I am undecided between whether they all apply just to the Israelites, or if there actually are specific types (I just got that from another Christian). I'll have to read Leviticus to figure it out. But either way, it doesn't really matter, as I'm not gay."

It might matter if you like to eat shellfish. What if you've misinterpreted it the OTHER way around, and in fact the shellfish law applies to everyone. Do you promise to stop eating them?

@Conservative Man: "And what is the verse about the four-legged insect?"

Leviticus 11:20 - 'All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you.'

@Conservative Man: "God decides what is moral and what is not, and what is sin and what is not."

What gives Him that right, even if he does exist? If God exists, He's an asshole, and I'm not taking orders from him.

@Mafialligator: "Also @TMW, you would pull a gun on a guy who touched your ARM, and asked if you wanted to "have fun"? Wow. Well in the interests of fairness, I suppose straight women should also be allowed to carry guns which they can pull on any guys who look at their breasts or come up to them in a bar and say "So do you come here often?"

On sexuality: I think that most people are at least a tiny bit bisexual. You can never say, with 100% certainty, that it is not possible that one day, you might meet someone of the same sex that - perhaps to your great surprise - you would be attracted to.

For the record, I am also polyamorous.

er, posted too quick

That woman would have been raped and murdered if not for allowing people to carry guns. The gay person in the original hypothetical could be armed to defend himself. And who's to say your psycho wouldn't have a gun? Criminals, by the nature of the word, break laws -- including gun control laws. What is the rationale behind trying to pass a law like this?

Obviously as a gun owner she dressed provocatively and, y'know, *encouraged* them to try to rape her. So it's all her fault. Or something

Personally, I think two CDs within the first 2 years, or 2 or more later on when one of the CDs is, for example, the largest power on the board.

England should not open to the English Channel in gunboat
As France, considering I was thoroughly screwed because Germany and Italy moved unrelentingly against me, I decided to take England down with me. And this decision came totally because England opened to EC in gunboat.

I am new to webdiplomacy, and I am playing quite a few games at the same time. The problem is that I do not feel that the games are moving fast enough, and I have only 1 D to play - meaning I am not able to join any more games.

Is there a way to borrow D's? Or even to play without D's?
