What is this? (Ancient Med map)
This is probably gonna sound stupid but, what is that L shaped, light blue thing on the Ancient Med map? It can't be just my PC since it appears on my laptop as well.

Edi Birsan End of Game Statement, please discuss:
I wanted to say thank you to all the players for this game and especially to Akroma who made it very interesting and entertaining for me. I think we all know that she had a won game here and elected not to take it. For me that is the sign of breaking through the status of a veteran into a higher field of play.

Why do people call Turkey the worst nation to be?
Why? Italy's WAY worse than Turkey to draw, if France goes all crazy and attack you from the start, good luck. If you try to lepanto, almost every Turkish player has seen that, and If you ally with Austria, they hardly ever trust you and as soon as you start dieing, they dive head first at you. Is there anybody here who actually LIKES to play Italy?

How many CDs are enough?
Personally, I think two CDs within the first 2 years, or 2 or more later on when one of the CDs is, for example, the largest power on the board.

What happens if?
If two armies try to enter an empty territory with equal support, they bounce. What happens to the occupying army if two armies try to enter an occupied territory, each having the same support, and the occupying army has no support at all?

Oh! I finally got what figle means by a.bxc. Until now I was all, "Is there a player I don't know about?" And sqrg, that's a good point. Just start the game and be like, "I'm wearing a thong. Stab me if you dare, suckers! Bwahahaha!" Who would take your SCs then?

Draugnar (0 DX)

Goodness, it has been a long time since I studied vector arithmetic. Why do we talk about definite and indefinite integration while we're at it and start rotating trigonometric functions about axis (a little Calc 101 there)
figlesquidge (2131 D)
17 May 10 UTC
when crossed?

Why would you want to rotate a rotation Draug? Seems kinda pointless to me.

@//: I'm guessing you're a graduate, but where from?
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 May 10 UTC
Well, SIN rotated about the X axis, with the right modifiers, can be used within the right limits to computer an American football's volume (roughly).

True.

+1 Parallelopiped. Incase you didn't see last time, where did you go to uni?
Alderian (2425 D(S))
17 May 10 UTC
@Draug, you could also just put the football in a fish tank and measure the change in water level. And then take the football outside and throw it around with some cute coeds.

@Draug 2, reminds me of that old bar sign. "Liquor in the front. Poker in the rear".
figlesquidge (2131 D)
17 May 10 UTC
@Ald,Draug - Aren't you two married? [clearly not to each other, but you knew that - only putting this to stop someone being difficult!]
Alderian (2425 D(S))
17 May 10 UTC
I am yes. And catching coeds is a theoretical to me as strip diplomacy. Fun to talk about and imagine.

But I do have a few footballs of different sizes so if I wanted to figure out how they compared to an official football, I'd probably go the fish tank route, and not just because my calculus is so far in the past that I couldn't tell an asymptote from a hole in the graph (or a pun more in line with calculus if you will.)

And you became a maths teacher? :S
Parallelopiped (691 D)
17 May 10 UTC
I believe maths teachers should be good at maths. I believe that quite strongly and so decided to stick up for my principles by ensuring that at least one is.
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 May 10 UTC
Alderian's answer applies to me as well. Besides, I'm 44. Not many coed's gonna look my way unless I flash a lot of money, lose a bit of weight, and update my wardrobe. Even then I'd just be getting the gold diggers looking for a sugar daddy. At least I still have a full head of hair and can readily color out the gray.
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 May 10 UTC
@Alderian, but seeing as a football floats, how would you submerge it without accidentally getting some displacement from the tool used to press it down? What I would do is use two identical tanks, and use a touch of CA to glue the inflated football to the bottom of one. Fill the football one to overflowing, then siphon off and drain it into the second so you could see the difference and get the volume.
Parallelopiped (691 D)
17 May 10 UTC
Make a cage on a stick out of metal the right size to hold a football. Submerge cage in full tank (use stick to lift cage out of water - ensure when submerging cage that stick is kept vertical). Pull out cage and allow to drip dry (best do this in a completely saturated atmosphere to ensure no evaporation). Put football into cage and lower cage once more into tank (ensuring stick is kept vertical). Volume of water displaced second time round is equal to volume of football.
I saved you a tank.
You owe me a tank
Alderian (2425 D(S))
17 May 10 UTC
Use a noodle strainer to push the football down. The holes let you see when you've pushed it down to just the top of the water.

Or, just put a piece of metal across that you can lodge the football under. Fill the water up to a certain level and mark it, then reach in and remove the football and mark the now lower level. Make sure to use a can of air to blow any excess water off your hands and the football back into the fish tank.

Or, use one of those big tanks that a person can be totally submerged in and then use a coed in scuba gear and naught else.
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 May 10 UTC
Of course, you could inflate the football with something heavier than water (sand to start and add water till pressurized?) so it just sinks then make a platform out of hollow material in a honeycomb pattern (negligible mass and volume but enough strength to hold the football as it is lifted out) and attach thin monofilament to the corners to lift it out (also negligible volume but enough tensile strength to lift). Or just CA the monofilament to the two ends of the football.
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 May 10 UTC
OK, I go with the coed in Scuba Gear and naught else. Of course, this works best if it is an entire lingerie football team in scuba gear - sans the lingerie.

17 May 10 UTC
@parrellelopiped - Wow, lots of respect to you! All the way through school I remember thinking how lucky we were that our head of maths was so good. Other teachers in the city all looked up to him, and scarily so. We went to a revision event last year, and they were talking and helping etc, then he walked in and it was as if he was *their* teacher!

England should not open to the English Channel in gunboat
As France, considering I was thoroughly screwed because Germany and Italy moved unrelentingly against me, I decided to take England down with me. And this decision came totally because England opened to EC in gunboat.

What are you listening too?
I'm always looking for new music and I'm curious to know what you like. Musical tastes can tell a lot about a person I believe. So, post the name of the performer and the name of the song and try to include a video link so that we might hear it too. I'll start.

How to get more D's?
I am new to webdiplomacy, and I am playing quite a few games at the same time. The problem is that I do not feel that the games are moving fast enough, and I have only 1 D to play - meaning I am not able to join any more games.

Is there a way to borrow D's? Or even to play without D's?
